Exactly why I think the CRPA is doing this. Death eventually does comes to us all and no one can escape old age. I think this is a really good idea and hopefully such round table of 21-35 year olds from all sorts of demographics should happen every 5 years or so.

Agree. I think there is change going on in the CRPA. The 140th anniversary gala guest is Miss Theresa Vail, which is a good start. She's a woman, she's an avid hunter, and a Sergeant in the Kansas National Guard. For next year, can I suggest the one or the entire Mythbusters team of Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage, Kari Byron, Grant Imahara, and Tory Belleci? They're Californians, they shoot guns all the time on the show, and they made science really, really, cool.

"Prohibit the peasants from owning katanas, wakizashis, arrows, spears, or matchlock rifles. If the peasants are armed, they will not pay nengu (taxes) and they will not be subordinate to the officials."

Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Sword Hunt Edict of 1588, establishing the class division between the peasants (commoners) and the samurai (the governing elites).

just like some of what NRA has been doing, updated or fresh content, more diverse role models and younger voices- way to go on Colin Noir, and Top Gun Cheng, and all the Women of NRA- older, and new, 3 gunning etc etc...

Update from the CRPA board meeting today

I wanted to share my thoughts from the focus group today. I actually ended up sticking around for the entire board meeting until adjournment, and I want to emphasize that I am very encouraged with what I saw today. First off, Chuck Michel was elected CRPA president this weekend, and I see this as huge positive since there is perhaps no one in this state doing more for the 2nd Amendment than he does.

But on to the focus group, I was one of four individuals who shared ideas and insight with the board of directors as to how to attract younger shooters and keep them involved. Solutions are difficult, but I detected a very urgent commitment to this issue from the board (especially from Joel Friedman, who asked tough questions and pushed us hard for specifics). We heard a lot about broadening education programs, both for shooting sports and hunting, and keeping it all cost-effective. I, for one, was pushing for more events geared towards recreational shooters. Right now, it seems most events are geared towards beginners and experts, but I suggested adopting an approach similar to CGSSA where we can get some friendly amateur competition and simply focus on just having a good time (of course with some prizes). Now I know that CRPA already puts on events and programs, but the outreach needs to change. Even me, a person very active in the gun community, have not seen publicity for many events. Again, the board realizes this and seems committed to trying to solve this problem.

Although I have maintained an annual membership with CRPA for several years, I admittedly have taken issue with CRPA on some matters in the past. CRPA recognizes that there were negative issues affecting them as well. But that appears to be behind us at this point, as I saw everyone getting along pretty well today and with a demonstrated commitment to change from those in attendance (as highlighted by the election of good leadership). I realize that this is all talk and hope at this point with the promise of action to come, but what I heard was good. Going forward, I see CRPA as a vital grassroots organization with a lot of potential and I personally plan on getting more involved to see where it goes.

I was another of the participants in the panel and I also stayed for about an hour after our panel discussion ended. I had a great time and learned a lot about CRPA is doing to help the shooting sports and 2A.

I didn't know that CRPA had so many hunting, shooting, educational, governmental/political and litigation programs.

They are a very busy and impressive group.

Hmmmm, if my memory serves me right, outstanding individuals from CGF were brought on board to CRPA, only to be ousted a short while later. With the CGF came a large following from CG and a nice cash infusion.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
