I don't know where you heard that from but appeals get denied all the time. You have a right to request appeal. but no guarantee of a hearing. The lower courts judgment will be reviewed and the appeal either granted or denied.

This is incorrect. Either party may appeal and the court of appeal MUST address the case. Most appeals are lost, but they must be decided on the merits.
