    Who is CERT trained?

In a discussion about fire extinguishers an number of folks mentioned being CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) trained.
Got me wondering how many folks on here are cert.

I did a search and did not see a thread on it (forgive me if I missed it), so here we go...

    Are you trained?
    What level?
    How long?
Are you active (attending meetings or refreshers)?
    Where abouts are you?

    Yes
    2
    6 years (I think)

Several of us are; I believe the relevant thread is http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...highlight=CERT

But about 65 threads talk about it - try 'search this forum'.

Concord doesn't have 'levels', though some other places do.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Is there anything you don't know? Thanks for the heads up. I'm on the forum through Tapatalk 98% of the time, which makes some stuff difficult.

Attended a CERT instructor course while working as a teacher.

No "levels" in the area in which I worked/taught.

Taught the CERT curriculum for two school years, no longer active.

Not in CA anymore, have seen some CERT activity in my current location (the Carson Valley, NV), but not much.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Here are some good links from the thread above.

Let me try to find it.

              Edit:

Found a CERT video shown in class that shows what CERT does. You will most likely watch this in your course.

              2nd edit:

Here we go, a CERT review by a calgunner

              http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=113490
The first link now resolves to http://www.fema.gov/community-emergency-response-teams The calgunner review was his day-by-day updates of the training.

The complete California CERTs list is here: http://www.citizencorps.fema.gov/cc/...cert=&state=CA

For my area, they have night classes starting in the Fall: http://www.co.orange.nc.us/emergency...14Calendar.pdf

The 6-8 p.m. time is perfect. Thanks for topic bump OP!

                    Yes

No levels, but through CERT obtained my Red Cross Basic First Aid/CPR card, General Ham License, Trainer certification and Teen Trainer certification.

                    2 Years

Semi-active, just helped with the first teen class, but haven't been making it to the last few meetings.

                    Yucca Valley (Morongo Basin CERT)

FYI, some CERT groups do a catch and release, where they have no formal monthly meetings, just the training class.

Not yet. I had never heard of this until I read the post. I looked up my local CERT and plan to take the Sept. courses offered. Thanks for the post.

I am CERT, I then moved on to the local DART team but won't be able to put in the required hours, so back to CERT.
