    "Revolutionary Urban Wind Turbine"

ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands , May 27, 2014 /CNW/ - The Rotterdam based research and development company "The Archimedes" reveals that it has developed a totally new generation of wind turbines for domestic use. This wind turbine will gain much more energy out of the wind than current generation wind turbines. Additionally this so-called Liam F1 Urban Wind Turbine hardly produces sound because of its remarkable design. The turbine will be presented to the press and people coming from over 40 countries on Tuesday.

The Liam F1 generates an average of 1,500 kilowatt-hour of energy at a wind-speed of 5m/s, which resembles half of the power consumption of a common household. In combination with solar-panels on the roof, a household could be totally self-supporting for its own energy needs.

    Jeeze, what timing.

I have a little motor I've been screwing with today, considering a blade design.

There must be a reason why someone hasn't boasted about this before.

The design looks better as a compressor than allow free flow. The surface area alone tells me there is too much drag, might work well in high wind areas and could be very quiet.

After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..

I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..
"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".

      Interesting.

With winds being channeled between buildings in urban areas (and thus increasing speed) the design might be a better fit then something with 6 feet of blade span whirling away.

More overblown hype (pun intended) from MSM journalists who, as a whole, know virtually nothing about science in general, and physics in particular.

I think you got the conversion wrong. The equivalent of 5 m/s is 10 knots or 11 mph. Still, that's a considerable requirement for a constant amount of wind. Like solar, wind is not present 24/7.

The online tool added a 2 in front of the 5 and messed me up. It read 25 m/s not 5. My bad!

1500 kilowatt hours is that for a year? PGE sells a kilowatt hour for over .30 at some points so that's like $450 worth of juice.

Maybe these could be linked somehow to the roof vents, that way if there's no wind the roof vent's movement could supplement.

OP - thanks for posting. I see you've been looking at residential turbines for some time. Are there any on the market you'd suggest someone in a relatively high wind area consider?

Are you referring to the turbine vents on commercial buildings?

If so, care to guess what makes those spin?

                            Those arent just commercial buildings......

I have a few of those, so do a lot of my neighbors.

My whole house fan makes them spin.....

You've never seen one spin as fast as mine do when the whole house fan turns on...... (I needed to add more attic venting for the fan, and it was the easiest way to do it.)

                            Home depot sells them.

Why is it an issue that the wind doesn't blow all the time, or the sun doesn't shine 24 hours a day?
