This is a great thread. Thanks to all the contributors. Curious if anyone has had experiences with the 5.11 "Tac Tec" plate carrier?

Wondering if anyone has any clever ways to tweak the one-size-fits-all type carriers such as the 5.11 to raise the plates up slightly... With my skinny frame, I think my plates are riding a little on the low side (I know the front should be approx at my sternal notch). Otherwise, this setup seems pretty comfortable with a set of Alumina/UHMWPE F/R plates coming in just over 11 lbs total.

Wow... I guess the AZ and UT non-resident CCW are pretty easy to get at least.

Im curious what you guys use to carry/store your armor in. I have two level 2a kevlar vests. Im looking for a medium size duffle or even a back pack I can carry my vests in discreetly to and from work. I don't really want to leave kevlar in my truck exposed to the elements. Heres what I use to store them at home with.

I've seen ppl use coolers too. What say you cal guns?

Tyr Tactical makes some really nice vehicle storage bags, though the color selection might not be as discreet as you might like. They usually have solid colors in black, ranger green, and coyote brown.

Find the tactical gear you need. Shop TYR Tacticals wide selection of plate carriers, vests, hard armor, assault packs, and more

The shoulder straps are adjustable (velcro) if I were to hang it up they would stretch. Trust me I wish I could just do that but I'm trying to get the most out of them. I'll see if I can dig up a picture.

That bag would work but Im looking for something that will carry extra gear. I have a molle 3 day pack that I carry personal items in. My vest is too large to fit in the pack. Id like someone that would store more stuff so I don't have to make a bunch of trips to my vehicle.

Was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the first spear level iii+ raid plates? I was thinking about picking a set of these up to fit inside my strandhogg. I'm quite tired of lugging around the 10lb ar500 plate I use now. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Basically it's these plates. http://www.renegade-armor.com/produc...15-40-01-0.htm Thanks.

Anyone hear from Midwest Armor lately? Are they out of business?

Way overdue on an order they charged the CC for two months ago, there's no response to e-mails the last three weeks, and can't get anyone on the phone, the sales extension is "busy" no matter when it's dialed ("leave a message").
