The Buff was the only animal we didn't eat. A 9 year old Buff would be like eating the rubber sole of a combat boot. But the Kudu Spagitti, Bles Buck Stew and Impala Steaks were absultly amazing! They were not gamey like a pacific black tail or wild pig. It was somewhat sweet and really rich in flavor. I will say it was an experience of a life time.

I don't know much about hunting but I do know I'm OK with taking almost anything as long as it will be used. With that being said, what happened to that Buff? How can you justify killing it if not eating it? What happened to the rest of the animals after you guys ate a portion of it? Mind if I ask what such a trip costs ROUGHLY? (I understand if you don't answer this semi-rude question).

I know the questions sound "loaded" but I'm honestly just curious and not implying anything or passing judgment. Legitimately interested and nothing more than that.

In Africa, no protein goes to waste. In Africa all the excess meat goes to the meat market or if you are hunting on tribal concessions all the meat not used in camp goes to the local tribes. It's their only source of protein, the outfitters pay a trophy fee for all animals taken to the tribal council and national government parks department. All the meat not used in camp is distributed daily to the locals. When I shot my buffalo they took every scrap, hides, hooves, internal organs, etc. The only thing left on the ground after cleaning the animal is the stomach contents and a wet spot.

Figure a Buffalo hunt will cost a minimum of $10,000 plus airfare, tips, and a trophy fee for any other animals that you shoot.

2013 was a great year for me on and under the water.
I can't say enough how blessed I am for this years bounty and all the delicious food my family has eaten.

Even though we have some of the most ludicrous laws, with the most depressing politicians, and little rest in sight,
We live in the best state in the US.
I truly believe this.

I was wondering that myself. I could never shoot an animal such as that, as they are majestic and I admire them. However, it is admirable that absolutely nothing is wasted between the scavengers and indigenous people. That is very responsible hunting indeed.
