    Fun Weekend

    hunting 005.jpg

Called in the Yote and made a 250 yard uphill shot to the chest.

The buck I have been scouting since archery where I actually missed a shot I took at him. The homework worked well though and I didn't move him off his pattern much so I was able to make it work sunday.

      Great buck!
No government deprives its citizens of rights without asserting that its actions are "reasonable" and "necessary" for high-sounding reasons such as "public safety."
A right that can be regulated is no right at all, only a temporary privilege dependent upon the good will of the very government
officials that such right is designed to constrain.

I need to go shoot a buck.

Fishing has been my thing this year.

This past week I went here.

and caught this one. A 24" channel cat off of cut bullhead cat. It was very tasty.

Last night I went to a spot a few miles down river and spent a few hours in temps in the high 30's to pull out this one. A 30" channel cat caught off of, you guessed it, cut up bullhead.

I always cut the stomachs to see what they are eating. The 24" one had a completely empty stomach. As in, clean as a whistle, no remains of anything. The 30" had a very full stomach. Full of feathers and the spine of a bird. Not sure if the bird was taken from the surface or died and sank. The feathers actually looked to be in pretty good condition other than the stomach slime.
Starve the beast, move to a free state.

I tried some small mouth in Arrowhead and had no luck, so went next door to a neighboring lake and caught these in 2 hours (a total of 10, but 2 were already done):

After stalking him for 2 hours I had a clear broadside shot at 70yds. The arrow hit him in the chest with a solid thwack and he ran less than 50yds. I'm shooting a Mathews Switchback and shuttle T lock broadheads.

This is a 180 Lbs pig taken off Vandenberg. I've been trying for this bruiser for a little over a year. He either disappeared in the brush or last shot came too fast. He hung around with a coyote and I saw the two together alot. Well no more.

I didn't draw an X tag this season, so just sat this one out. Damn it!
But, I sure do like that X-12 area. Fine country up there.
