My smallest yet, but he will eat good.
Opening morning. I could see camp about 100 lyards behind me. Had to follow the heard until they met up with the others. no bulls, only the spike. Maybe 30 min. in and I was done.

took this while they were feeding and moving away from me

I need those backwoods. Haven't seen a buck yet. Going higher next 2 days.

This blind squirrel managed to find a little nut in the woods last weekend. This was my last weekend to hunt this season so I'm grateful to have finally taken home some meat for the freezer.

There were 6 of us on this trip and we took 6 does. Some areas let you draw two doe tags and buy any left over tags over the counter.

I've had a buck tags and two doe tags some years.

Lucky you. Didn't draw Wyoming antelope this year. Is there a way to get 3 tags?

Next time you should. I brine it for 24-36 hours in the fridge and it loses the "entrails" taste.

Thanks. My BGM built 6.5x47L. Manners EH4 carbon stock, Hardy carbon barrel, NF 2.5-10nsx, and my old Stiller Tac30 action I've had for years. It's also a switch barrel in 7saum for out of state rifle elk hunting. Still waiting for a Ca elk tag lol.

Another part of the story is after the 1/2hr walk to go get my deer dragger sled I had a mountain lion lurking around trying to steal my kill. Caught a quick glimpse before it bolted. So many cats lately it sucks. I used to see 4-6 bucks on this property every day. This was the first legal buck I saw in 3 days of hunting it.
