I don't reload for speed, but my 22-250 REM with 40 gr Blitzkings chronos at 4020fps. Squirrel smashers for certain. Fast and accurate out of my Savage 12FCV.

Here's a pic from last June after one met the 22-250 at 120 yards. At that range, it had to absorb over 1000 ft lbs of energy. It's hard to see unless you zoom in, but the top and bottom half are 10yards apart. Note the holes and mounds in the farmers field.

Got the camera mount today and now it's on the rifle. No more messing with external cameras and shaky mounts. This thing is bad***** and houses my GoPro4. 120frames per second at 720p. Should be interesting footage.

I went out this morning and blasted a bunch of squirrels with my M77 22WMR. It doesn't tear them in half like the above pic, but it's still pretty devastating.

I'm lucky, I've got places to shoot them 15 minutes from my house.

Strafer what did you pay for the camera mount and what brand is it? The one source I found is at $1000.

The mount is from Torrey Pines Logic but it is last year's version. I elected for the older model because they told me the only difference between it and this year's model is this year's model is 1/4 inch shorter (same optics though). They discounted the older model by $200 due to the badging "marks" but it looks fine to me. Retail is indeed a grand. TPL are in San Diego and very helpful. Mailed mine the same day I paid them.

It is rock solid, all aluminum and appears very, very sturdy. I did have to do a little filing to the lower half of their scope ring to get the clearance I needed on my DNZ mount, but it was trivial. The overall install was very simple. They make a quick release which is next on my list. I didn't make it up this weekend due to weather, so I can't comment on its performance yet. I hope to run it during the roundup in two weeks.

Another aluminum mount I considered is here: www.eaglevisioncam.com and also on YouTube (search for eagle vision cam). It is made in UK, and much, much less expensive. But it is limited to only certain Casio cameras (although they do offer a cell phone adapter) you have to glue the mount ring to your camera, and you must reference the reticle via the camera/cellphone screen (you can't see through the scope while the mount is in place -that was the main reason I went for the TPL product).

Beat the rain today and tested out the camera mount at Sac Valley. I have a lot to learn about the mechanics of the rig and how to maximize it and the GoPro, but it looks promising.

All the details are in the description of the vid at the YouTube site.

Looks like great fun. My buddies friend owned a paintball field in Hollister we use to go there and spank the crap out all the ground squirrels using .22 lrs. I used a CZ452 varmiter that was pillar bedded and a Yo Dave trigger mod kit. That thing would shoot 1/8" moa at 50 yards using a Nikon 2x7 scope and Federal Auto Match from Walmart. It was the funniest thing as I could swear that they would clap just as they where knocked backwards. I have to speak to a couple of guys to see if we can put something together.

Hmmm. I gotta say I dont like the way the cameras view is pulled off the target when the gun is fired.

Details from the description of the vid at the YouTube site.

Testing the Torrey Pines Logic Eagle Eye Scope Mount with a GoPro Hero4 Black.

This video is 5 shots at 100 yards with a Savage 10FCP-K chambered in 223 REM. It is a bone stock rifle topped with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24 x 50 FFP and DNZ one-piece low scope mount.

I'm shooting 40gr Hornady VMaxs over 22.0gr of IMR 4198 and Winchester Small Rifle Primers. Mixed brass. 1.906 OAL to the ogive (dialed for my rifle) and running at about 3600fps. yes, fast. (Please save comments on throat burn, barrel burnout, overpressure, etc.)

It's a long video for shooting 5 shots because I don't have any editing capabilities yet. Still, it shows what the rig is capable of. Notice the fly on the top right of the target at 0:36. Probably should have tried a whack at him.

The mount was very comfortable and easy to see through. Just like looking through a scope. Well, because you are. The mount uses a series of prisms and optics to reflect the downrange image to the GoPro. It's pretty cool. It does add some bulk to the rifle and some weight. This doesn't impact me as I shoot off a bench or table exclusively. The rifle did fit inside my soft case and just barely would close with the camera attached. My soft case is the Allen "Tejon" scoped rifle case with pockets. I love this case--if I'm just lugging one rifle it's my go-to case.

I learned a lot about the GoPro and the mount. Like, my Galaxy S5 phone to which my GoPro is synched via Wi-Fi will not allow me to preview or playback at filming speeds greater than 90fps. So I was shooting this video blind. Also, I needed to adjust the mount to level the crosshairs with the camera frame.

Camera focus on the reticle was an issue, I'll need more practice there. Also, downrange focus was via the parallax adjustment and it was a challenge to get it right between what my eye would see clearly and what the camera would see.

After I got home and played with the GoPro some more, I figured out that a narrow field of view helped eliminate the dark edges around the scope. You just have to play with the settings and look at the image preview to get it right. This I did not know before setting to do this video. Live and learn.

This is my first attempt at filming. And yes, I can see that I can improve my recoil management. LOL.

Feel free to leave comments. I'll try to get to any questions as time allows. Thanks for watching.

Me too. I gotta have a talk with the rifleman...

The mount is rock solid on the rifle and the only way it's coming off the target is if I let it. Or if the magnification is so high and FOV so narrow that even with good follow through the recoil is enough to move the FOV off the target. (which I would like to convince myself happened in this instance). Gotta do some more experimenting/shooting....

                              Thanks for the write up.
I did find the same camera mount cheaper, but it's sold in the UK. With the conversion I think it's about $440. I've never ordered anything international so I don't know how it would work out.
