Aesthetically I like the Earthroamer XV-JP.

Sisu or steel truck for me. Although, wonder what kinda gas mileage they get?

Thicker metal, off-road ability and access to all compartments without getting out is important. Don't know if the earthroamer has that capability.

I got me a vintage hilux..... I can just imagine the look on the wife's face when I pull up the driveway so equiped. I'd have to substitute a 1919 or something else in lieu of a 50 cal or Degtjarev DShK. Not much room for storing the bugout items though.

Do you mean a vehicle for when you come across this guy? "Just walk away, walk away into the wastland. Too much suffering, too much pain."

There was a post about this radical 4 or 6 wheeled RV a few months back it looked like a massive square motor home but had some interesting features like a quad that would lower from the rear of the vehicle.

I looked for it but wasn't able to find it in the time I spent searching previous posts.

The only drawback is that "RV" didn't have the armor plate that I would want for such a vehicle.

But then Vehicles that have armor plate get real hot real fast.

              EM-50!

EM-50 carried a cannon, machine guns, flame throwers, missiles, and all manner of infantry weapons. It also featured hideaway armor plating which would cover the windows and other vulnerable points when going into combat. It also featured a fully equipped communications and navigation suite. Designed to prowl urban areas without attracting attention, the EM-50 could quickly deploy its weapons before an enemy knew it was there or realized what it was.

I even think it had a waterbed!

Watching the evening news reports from the third or fourth world, I notice alot of Toyota and Datsun trucks and Mercedes diesel sedans. If decent mileage, low maintenance and unblowupableness are requirements, a carbureted Toyota truck would seem to be a good fit, unless they made a diesel. That would be better.

Sorry. No way in hell I'd pin my post-apocalyptic survival chances on a Jeep. I've owned a few, and while the 4.0 I6 is near indestructible, the rest of the vehicle is a POS.

Proof that what you need is a Toyota Diesel.

Have you seen the things the Top Gear guys did to the HiLux? On top of that "killing" clip, they also used one of those (somewhat modified of course) to be the first people to drive to the north pole. Crazy a## brits... If it weren't for the Sisu, I'd have to write that in too.

                        I'd take the Sisu XA-185

but in all reality i'd have an ex-military humvee as well painted woodland camo since i live in the woods

Landmaster (Damnation Alley 1977) is a classic late 70s SciFi. I'm dating myself. But, I remember watching it as a kid as re-runs on TV, I don't remember much of the movie now. Probably for the better. Reading some of the reviews online now, they aren't so kind.

But, you can't ever forget the Landmaster, once you see it. Always thought it was cool and always wanted to ride in one when I was a kid.

The other show with a similar vehicle is the "Ark II" TV series. I remember the chimp and jet packs. lol

Just happened to find a Tor**** of both shows online.
