    thanks for the recommendation.

now that i think about it, maybe asking for 2 recommendations on a knife forum would help too or are they typically not amused by this kind of thing (ex i notice we don't see a lot of "help me find my first pistol" threads) and respond with "search function"

Could someone make recommendations based on the following, roughly in order of importance:
      - No serrations on blade
      - G10, Micarta, or similar material for grips. grippy w/o being sticky if that makes sense.
      - Clip can be reversed or placed in different positions.
      - No high maint steel like carbon steel.
      - Under $100 ballpark, but ideally under $50 would be ideal. Wouldn't mind having 2 knives if total budget was OK.
      - I have large hands that sweat often so no tiny/or very thin knife handles. 2-4" blade.

No preference in companies. So far I've found 2 from SOG and 3 from Kershaw just b/c their websites make it easy to find products by criteria. Spyderco, Benchmade, and some others - not so much.

Also, can anyone explain the loop in all of the Spyderco blades?
I would look at a bunch and handle them... and say look at Griptillians, Tenacious, Resilience, Stretch FRN, RJ1, Thermite, Cryo2, Cryo G10, Link FRN or Aluminum, Blur, etc... all are in the price range and stainless.

Anyway, my latest purchase is a Wilson Combat ELC. I first saw it at my local army surplus store a few weeks ago and it really spoke to me. Great ergonomics, awesome blade shape, and nice steel (elmax). When I went home to research it a little more I found they made a multicam G10 handled version and I fell in love even more. This thing just feels awesome and looks strikingly good to me. I know this knife has been out for a while but somehow it never showed up on my radar until now. Going to EDC it and see how she performs. I'm new to elmax steel so it should be interesting.

Those Wilsons look great. I wasn't familiar with them but I've heard of Fox for sure.

Recently picked up a cold steel mini ak. Wanted a smaller blade length so I could have an edc when at school. I was pushing my luck carrying a SOG Kiku.

I finally said scew it, picked up a couple of Cold Steel Voyager Vaquero XL serrated and plain edge, and a G10 Espada XL.
                The Espada...damn what a knife!

Just picked up some new stuff for weekend carry.
                  Al Mar Eagle HD
                  Victorinox Farmer
                  Streamlight Stylus Pro

I'm not going to put the Al Mar up to my everyday abuse in construction, it's too nice for that, and I wouldn't want to risk losing it either.
I carry a Spyderco Resilience and one of the small classic Victorinox Swiss Army knives during the week, as they see lots of use at work.
The Spyderco Resilience is a good larger size edc knife that has held up to my abuse so far.

That Al Mar is beautiful. I have a Resilience that has zero use on it so far. Seems like a good knife. I use my Tenacious quite a bit and it has been great.

Not a new knife but a new clip. ZT 0801 clip for my 0452 that feels like a new knife to me and I will carry it more now. FREE from KAI. I like this clip much better than the tiny one they decided to use stock. For me it gives more to grip when flipping and not pressing on the lock bar. More like the 0450 but deep carry.

and a gratuitous pic of the CF side

Dude, nice knife right there. I've always wanted an Al Mar Falcon Ultralight ever since I held one at a gun show a few years ago. To be honest I have no idea why I haven't bought one yet. Congrats on your new purchase.

Wow, good job bud! I am loving those multicam scales. Almost looks like micarta? Or is it G10. I think multicam looks awesome on knives and I'm surprised more manufacturers don't use it.
