Whats your latest knife purchase?

Yeah some people love them (bottle openers). I don't know why I think it is cool on a traditional. When I have had them on big5 knives I thought it was cheesy. I have a kydex key organizer and one of my "keys" is a bottle opener that I use pretty often, and I have a lot of other bottle openers including two cartridges where the brass has been cut to open a bottle - one is close to a 5.56 and the other an actual .50 BMG... and yet I still bought another caplifter just now:

I got a shuffle a couple of years ago. It's build very well. I could live without the bottle opener but other then that I like it.Leave a comment:

I think all my CS folders are gone now and the only waver I have is that bowie tipped Kershaw Emerson.Forgot to mention that the Artisans all have deep pocket clips. Not Ti, just steel, but a nice touch just the same.
Decided to carry my Cold Steel Code 4 CTS-XHP clip point today. Big folder but very thin (about 8 mm) so I hardly notice it in my pocket. It's not assisted but you have to be careful closing it because it drops quick after the blade reaches the end of it's rotation clearing the lock lever.
One of the lockback I love is the CentofanteIII because lots of reasons, but one is the blade drops free when you press the lockback and can index on the fingernail for easy one hand closing. Of course there's supposedly nothing stronger than a TRI-AD.Leave a comment:

Those look nice too. I think if you jump up to the $225 range it'd be tough to pick one over a ZT 0452CF or something similar made in the USA... but the $50-$100 China liner locks are kicking some Benchmade Azzz IMHO. Eagerly awaiting my WE knife... should be here this week.
If they start throwing in some nice titanium clips on those I'll not be able to resist.Leave a comment:

Nice looking knives. Artisan has an interesting lineup. Even within a line like the Zumwalts they have different models. They have all the bargain D2 models and even titanium and M390 steel models which are totally different where they use a framelock instead of a liner lock design. Titanium/M390 framelock's jump to $225 street price. These D2 linerlocks with ceramic bearings and perfect centering seem to be the new import bargains.
So if they are $50-$65 models, are you carrying them?Leave a comment:

Been on a little bit of a binge....
So I picked up this oak machinist's tool box to store/secure my knives in. Vintage 1940's construction.

Liong Mah Warrior 2 & Kizer Shoal. I'm REALLY liking both, but the Shoal is exceptionally impressive given its price-point. Beautiful to look at, hold & flip.

Next up is by far my favorite flipper: Boker Kwaiken x2. Both have marble CF scales. The duplex blade on top is the smoothest & fastest flipper I've ever felt. A true pleasure to manipulate.

Next up are my new Kershaws. 2 Leeks & a Natrix in copper. Nice little blades.

Last (so far) is my SpyderCo Para2 w/ linen micarta scales & my Kizer Splinter. The SpyderCo is a beast. The Splinter is an exceptional flipper at its price-point & is a pleasure to fondle.

Wow, the 0900 is a unique size. The Talon is cool. I had a black blade 0566CF and it was a great size to carry anytime, pretty slim but not very grippy. Flipper kind of bugged me, maybe needed gimping and not a soft opener like a 0350. Overall probably my favorite assisted opener.Last edited by crufflers; 11-30-2018, 11:40 PM.Leave a comment:

That's a deal. I've been real happy with mine. It's been on my list from the beginning but I finally got around to ordering one of these. Knife Center is offering them for only $120. Too good a deal to pass up. 40% off MSRP at $200 and 20% off street price at $150.

You know what's not boring? TRADITIONALS. Colorful too. You have any? GEC 15's are pretty great.Guess it's because this is getting into the "custom" knife realm and I prefer to stay w/standard OEM offerings because what you like in a "custom" knife (or anything else) may not be marketable later, which is something I'm concerned about even if I don't often sell anything I buy. Customization of guns is a prime example of this potential marketability "problem." No such problem w/standard OEM offerings, as boring as they might be.
