    Thanks for chiming in Randall.

I used a jig and everything seems to line up and function check correctly. I can take some measurements if needed but everything looks ok.

The slide pushes hammer about 1/16,maybe 3/32 (eyeing it) past the full cocked position

Hammer hooks are around .28 so no, not short at all.

With a lot of extra travel, the slide will be going faster when it releases the hammer over to the sear.
This will let the sear bounce.

Did you put the hammer hole in the wrong spot?
Is tyhe sear hole in the wrong spot?
    Is your sear short?
    Are your hammer hooks short?

I just ran across something similar with colt beaver tail and sarco hammer are conflicting I had to file abit from the back of the hammer to give clearance.

Make a drawing of exactly where you would see that dimension and post it.
Are you talking about the sear nose clearance to the hammer hooks?

The part that the slide hits when cycling. Very top end of hammer... So when pulling slide back which cocks hammer... When I relase the slide slowly, the hammer rises about 1/16 to 3/32 of an inch up above the bottom of the slide. That is the position of the full cocked position.

Hope that helps explain. If not, I can do a drawing tommorrow.

            One other possibility-

If your gun has an overtravel adjustment on the trigger and it's set for TOO MUCH overtravel, you can sometimes get hammer follow with the trigger pulled back (which happens when firing).

With the finger off the trigger (i.e. hand racking the slide) it would still work normally.

Worth a quick look- if you have an overtravel adjustment on the trigger this is literally a 30 second fix.

Randall - ordered new sear and hammer and will see how these fit
GABE - yes had to really trim thumb hold on hammer to fit beqvertail
Saki- considering this in the equation but looking at it does not seem to have overtravel issue... No overtravel screw on this trigger though.

Will report back after I get new hammer and sear.

Thanks guys.... I'm going fishing in the sierras this weekend. Stoked to get away

See if you can't borrow a trigger with overtravel stop and see if it cures the problem. The provided trigger could just be going back too far.

Otherwise, guess #2 would be a problem with the sear catch on the hammer itself., which you took care of

If your mainspring is too stiff it might push the hammer up faster than your sear can re-engage... what weight are you running?

New Wilson sear and hammer. Nice trigger what a difference

                    1- 30 rounds good
2- started following to 1/2 cock after
                    3- bummed
4- going to buy a spring kit and trigger and disco
                    5- only follows after firing.
6- will NOT follow dropping slide w trigger pulled.
7- trigger still real nice. Can't imagen sear damage but will strip this weekend. Really nice feel
                    8- good solid extraction ejection.

                    Advice?

At this point, I might be tempted to get/make a set of those pins that allow you to install your hammer and sear on the outside of the frame and then inspect how much engagement you are really getting.
You could have a hole location problem...

your trigger is not fitted properly - push it to the side and release the slide.

still think that you should replaced the trigger with an one that has an adjustable overtravel.

If you have bent the tab out on the trigger bow that adjusts the amount of take up the trigger has bend it back and test it again. Will the hammer drop if you pull the trigger while it is in the half cocked notch?

                            Thanks for chiming in guys.

1- I used the pins and put on outside. Seems fine but then I'm far from expert. Going to break down and check specs of holes w blueprints
2- the trigger is not sloppy side to side at all when you say hold trigger to side and release slide I am confused as to how and why. Also going to get trigger w over travel screw to knock that possibility out
3- when at 1/2 cock pulling trigger does NOT release hammer (will double check tonight) I have not bent the trigger bow.

The more I think about it the more I think my sear spring is a POS and I have too little pressure on it. I am going to move back to focus on the springs. It has been a challenge he to test be said it has a solid main spring housing.

                            Puzzles are challenges to overcome.

Where are you located? I have an extra Wolff sear spring you can try if you are local to San Diego. I also have the proper sear jigs and stones to put the proper angles on the sear if you want to try dressing the sear.
