Like stated above, it might be trigger bounce.

I left off the obvious stuff Don't know about problems with interapid but it could be like every other company out there "corner cutting"

Lagun is a far better machine then a Bridgeport and they make a damn good lathe too.

        link

This is the tutorial I use just to remind me of how to assemble and parts function.

Scroll down to see an animation and a picture of the the spring in its proper position.

Everyone who occasionally works on the 1911 should save this link in their favorites.

Thanks for the good info. If I'm understanding their website correctly I have to buy a package of 12. .5"X.25"X6" 600 grit is the one to get though huh? With the small amount of tinkering I do that will be a lifetime supply.

6 out of 10 times it is the sear leg of the spring that is not pushed forward enough allowing the sear to bounce when the slide is slammed closed or fired but no follow through when the slide stop is released (normally the hammer stops at the half/safe notch).

3 out of 10 times it is a sear/hammer that has a negative angle relationship and again with enough sudden shock will cause them to bounce. The hammer can stop at the safe notch but normally follows through and causes a discharge.

1 out of 10 times is everything else including disconnector issues as well as trigger issues.

Look if you are going to do this yourself atleast get some formal training. 1911's are not glocks. You have to know what you are doing. I would suggest at least get the agi 1911 courses. Will cost as much as a gunsmith but you will have this knowledge for life.

Yes... Searching and doing research before I mess with it more.. The course recommendation is good as well.

                              Update:
Stiffened up sear spring. It was already pretty stil honestly. Still follows when fired but not when dropping slide per the safety check only ever had follow when fired so no change.. So, ordered new sear and hammer. I have read through lots of info over the last week and learned a lot.

                              Further doubts
1- disconnector is little longer than the extra one I have. Reading up on this now. It seem to function correctly
2- slide pushes hammer down considerably more than full cocked position. Could this create the problems described?
3- overtravel is not an issue as at full trigger pull there is no sear spring contact. Trigger breaks right at end of stroke.

                                Yes.
The hammer should only have a little bit of extra travel so that the slide gently hands the hammer over to the sear as the slide returns forward.
With a lot of extra travel, the slide will be going faster when it releases the hammer over to the sear.
This will let the sear bounce.

Did you put the hammer hole in the wrong spot?
Is the sear hole in the wrong spot?
                                Is your sear short?
                                Are your hammer hooks short?
