Yugo M70 (press, and pin barrel) milled reweld underfolder 10 rounds at 50 yards with sparc red dot (2MOA dot)


Does your AR group that good with similar optics, and Russian factory loaded steel cased ammo (because that target was shot with Brown Bear ammo)?

Nope. Green mountain rifle barrel 1970 model chrome lined air gauged, and stress relieved.
Pretty much all of my builds are either
A. Original combloc barrel
B. Green mountain

I don't use anything else because I found what I personally like, and what works well for me.
Sorry I cannot comment on Curtis' barrels because I have not shot them.

ok....been busy with other things and getting back to the demill. all I have left is the rear trunion. how does the dust cover retaining pin come apart? once I get that apart I can tackle the rivets and start building. (well...barrel is already populated and eagerly awaiting a receiver!)

So being of the diy mindset is expensive . Latest barrel population everything fit perfect except the front sight. Not having a lathe I read reviews and decided on an Eagle Rock Knurlmaster handheld knurling tool with a diamond set of wheels. I was told a pipe cutter would work but hey good excuse for a cool tool. Worked well first try!uploadfromtaptalk1394147432601.jpg

Green mountain rifle barrel.
Every one I have populated needed the FSB journal knurled.
And nice job on the knurling with a hand tool. Far better than the tubing cutter.

Ah.. I see, my gears are turning now... In some ways it seems like a milled reweld is a bit easier than a building from a stamped rec. where the barrel must pressed off/on the trunion for rivets etc , provided one has a welder and welding skills it seems doable.

Easier? Hell no! But it sure is fun (once it's finished)

Use a tool you can make out of a flat screwdriver (cut out the middle, so you have two protruding pins on the side), so that you can unscrew the nut. If the nut is peened so much that you can't move it, drill out the peening (but don't go overboard. You just need to remove the peening).

yes it was...funny because I did 2, first one was perfect, 2nd one not. oh well...thanks...it was actually pretty easy. did a couple test runs on a piece of round steel stock I had first

found a pair of snap ring pliers in my drawers (not my pants lol) that worked perfect
