Sure is a lot of work to replace being careful.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

      Duly noted.

You ought to see what MINE look like...
As to the first part, you are correct in some respect - this "UBER-MOACKS" took the place of an older model about 2 yrs. ago, and on this one the staking "screws" have recently been replaced due to literally hundreds of uses causing the tips to become less effective due to wear. PLUS, I go to great lengths to clean & keep all my tools as immaculate as possible (especially the more expensive/specialty ones.) So I see where you would get the impression from the picture that these aren't "used" very much. Quite to the contrary: I use the "MOTHER" on all the AR variants I work on. Oh, and the bolt tool (which is around 5 yrs. young) has been used to remove/replace/upgrade several hundreds of extractors; extractor springs; extractor buffers; ejectors; and ejector springs (an upgrade to chrome silicon that I always advise my customers on). Again, a little TLC keeps these essentials sparkling new (looking).

As to the second part of your post, I think I'll take a PASS on that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Yes he is.

Had the pleasure of talking to Ned last week.

Btw, Nice job, I am going to do the same for a couple of lowers that I change around stocks like I change socks... which is often.

now i am going to need to have a little allen wrench

          no thanks
so use a flat head screw plug thingie. i think its a cool mod. its not like it cannot be removed and returned to original config.

Changing stocks excessively can mess with your receiver pretty bad. Not saying it will ruin them, but it's not like they can have them changed on a regular basis either.

Personally, if my stock preference really changed that often I'd just buy a second lower and build it with the other stock. Pushing two push pins in and out is a LOT easier than pushing the pins out, replacing the stock, and then pushing them back in.

Glad you're happy with it though.

Neat idea, but I'm definitely not drilling into my Regged AW receivers- heck, I even put anti-rotation pins on those

If someone were to do this procedure and slip with the tap, they could break the tap off, rendering the rear takedown detent impossible to install.

Thanks to all of you guys who made such positive comments. You are the ones who have vision and are forward-thinking! As to the criticism - bring it on, everyone's opinion counts! Again, if anyone has an innovative/worthwhile tech tip, please post it. As for me, I will be doing a "Pt. II" here in a few MONTHS. I have a pretty cool technique for polishing your chambers - I'm sure many of you will find it to be valuable. Also: even though I will be showing the procedure on an AR (for sake of keeping with the thread "theme"), it can be used for a variety of bolt action rifles & even pistolas/revolvers.
                    Scott

I guess great minds think alike.
Was that a compliment? From Randall? WOW, I really didn't know you had it in 'ya!!!! - I'll take it if I can get it, though."Thanks"

Aside from the fact that there is zero drilling involved (and it is the most minimal, non-intrusive tap job I have ever done), it was more the 2nd part of the post (i.e.: its meaning/point) that I simply didn't "get." If I had a reg'd AW, I would probably think twice before doing anything like this to it also. So I would just do it to a duplicate lower w/ different roll marks on it!

i don't know how changing the stock would mess with the receiver at all only when you change the buffer tube that you put any wear on the receiver but then you have to worry about the little buffer stopper pin flying free

hmm is his next mod going to be a little pin to hold that in place?
