My Kimber fired twice with one pull

Today when I was shooting my Kimber Ultra CDP II, I noticed that after about 5 magazines through it, that the hammer was not staying back after the shot. It would eject the spent cartridge but the hammer would not stay back after it cycled. Then after a few more rounds as I was trying to figure what was going on, it fired 2 rounds with one pull. What the heck. This has never happend to me before. I know it must be something simple, so here I am.

    Thanks in advance.

The sear is not catching the hammer at the cocking notch.
The sear is also not catching the hammer on the safety notch that is supposed to prevent the hammer from following / dropping onto the slide.
It could be just a sticky sear / gummed up action but there could also be broken parts inside.
It is time for a tear down and inspection.
Safety issue, do not load it.
Not safe to shoot, as I'm sure you are aware.

You are in possession of a machine-gun. Turn yourself in before they send a SWAT team to your house.

              I'll take it! heehee

A buddy had a 22 which was doing this and the smith kinda laughed and said 'sell it - you might get a lot of money for this'..

Thanks for the replies. I took it apart and inspected it, nothing broken. I don't think that it was gummed up either as it looked to be decently lubed. Do you guys do a light coat of break free on the internals or more? I am going to take it out next week to see it was just a sticky sear.

Hope all goes well your next trip to the range . . . but if problem persists, I would contact manufacturer. Most "major" makers have really great warranty service and will repair or replace as necessary. Often, they will go through the whole gun and update as necessary!

If it happens even one more time, take it to an experiences 1911 smith or, better yet, send it to Kimber. Kimber has GREAT customer service!

Did someone do a trigger job on the gun?

Also an out of spec disconnector could be at fault. Either way, you should send it back for warranty work, or consult a gunsmith familiar with this type of work. I would not shoot it any more. Safety is the number one issue.

I'd try a new sear spring.

I just thought about this more, it did not even fall into the half cock mode.
