    How to fix these gouges?

    Hi everyone,

Hope this is the right forum for this.

A friend installed the sight on my CZ 75 SA. The sight did not go in easily and he ended up using a hammer and punch to get it in. As you can see, he missed a few times. I hate the way this looks and I'm wondering what my options for repairs are?

Is this a cerakote situation? File/sand/then coat?

CGW said they could help but I'd rather find a local shop if possible.

    Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Yep. Bubba done good. If it's just looks, get some sandpaper and a rust resistant paint, color match.... Won't be great, but good enough.

Thanks. Never have Ray Charles do your gunsmithing.

My concern is rust but it's been about 4 years without issue. I'll just shoot it. That's the cheapest option!

Get a new slide and let a competent gunsmith install sight.
Saw 1 for sale on ebay for ~ $40

That was painful to see, I can fix almost anything but even I think it would be ugly after any attempt at repair.

Sometimes a sight pusher should have been used. I?m not entirely against those that use a punch and hammer but I won?t use them on my guns. If you?re concerned about rust lightly oil the marred areas

If you are that concerned. To do it right you would need to refinish the slide.

Your “friend” didn’t cover up the area before pounding on it.

+1 on sight pusher for future guns.

For now, you can have it sanded down and cerakoted. That would help as a form of rust protection.

Just my opinion but it's a (Nice) tool, not a safe Queen, so as soon as you fix this cosmetic issue there might be another that you notice or even possibly cause yourself.

The cheapest solution would be trying to dab the scratched areas with one of those Birchwood Casey instant blue Sharpie type markers.

If I can get a new slide for just $40 that's way cheaper than one hour with a gun smith. Thanks!

Black marks-a-lot and let it roll. Lesson learned, you get whay you pay for.
