For really precise work I stopped doing this. I can't locate the center punch by hand accurately enough. Whereas if I just use the drill bit to touch the surface, it'll make a small mark in the Dyechem that I can see. Using that, I can adjust the work until the bit lands exactly where I want it on the scribed cross hairs.
