80% Question

Hey guys so I was at my LGS and I ordered the Juggernaut Ultimate Jig. I received it today and am now wondering if the top plate/trigger pocket template is too small of a platform for my router? For you guys who have experience completing 80%'s, what do you think? Heres the jig.

The 80% Easy Jig has the Router Base that looks a lot easier to keep my router flat on.

Am I making a bigger deal about this than necessary?

I purchased the juggernaut jig also. Drilled out the holes but having an issue with the 5/16 milling bit. Couldn't find a 5/16 collet for my router. Have one on order and waiting for it now.

You could make it work if you are careful not to tilt your router by going too far to one side or another, or the edges. The huge top plate by 80% Arms is a definitely plus in the routing operation by keeping the router level. I have used it many times now and it is a great jig.

IMO, return the Juggernaut and get the 80% jig instead. I'm within driving distance to 80% Arms and they're a great bunch of guys and take care of their customers.

So I did return the Juggernaut and got the 80% Easy Jig instead. Haven't used it yet since I needed to order a few things that I didn't already have and that I couldnt find at home depot like cutting fluid and the rubber vice jaws with magnets to stick to my vice.

Once those are here, I am going to start spending a lot of time in the garage again lol

That's a milling jig, not a routing jig.

Reminds me of the new 2017 Ford Raptor - "Military grade aluminum." So you're saying you guys bid it out and went with the cheapest crap you could buy that barely qualifies as decent material.

Didn't know they actually had a storefront; when I saw their location I thought it would just be a warehouse/shipping location. May have to stop by, as a satisfied customer!

return it and get the 80% arms easy jig, take your time, use plenty of cutting oil, and you will have great results.

Finally had some time to start working on my first receiver tonight only to be frustrated by inferior tools. My dewalt 18v drill maxes out at 1500 rpm and the video clearly says to set my drill to 2500 rpm. Totally my fault for not catching it before. Am gonna have to upgrade my drill before I can continue as I only got to the third hole before my second battery died on me.
