    Can someone comment on the night classes at front site? Considering a 4 night in July. Any additional considerations other than a new holster and gun light. I will also have a hand held light.

      What is the problem with scheduling classes?

        Red lens flashlight or low lumen/output white light for when checking targets so as to not mess up your night vision. I don't think I had a headlamp at the time I took my night class, but I have one now https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/SP...CTIKKA-PLUSRGB that'll do red/low white; might be handy for next time.

        Super fun shooting at night

            make sure you bring some clear shooting glasses for night. Yellow or amber are not all that great when it really gets dark. Fond memories of the night shoots. My first one was in the old adv tac handgun class where you shot line and the shoot house at night. I had never seen my trijicon night sites work outside of my house. I was like a kid with a new toy on xmas. All I wanted to do was shoot.

              I received my first grad certificate at a night course. It taught me what I was doing wrong previously. It made me concentrate on the front sight and not the target.

                2-day vs. 4-day classes

                The defensive handgun, tactical shotgun and practical rifle classes all come in both 2 and 4 day versions. For each, how much overlap is there between the two versions? Does the 4 day cover the same material as the 2 day plus 2 more days worth? If I take both versions, am I really getting 6 days of unique material or just 4?

                  The first two days are virtually identical.
                  The 4 day is definitely worth taking if you can make it work with your scheduling.
                  You'd be better off doing 4 day and then 2 day skill builders afterwards. The SB is the 4 day class condenses into two but you can only take it after having completed the 4 day

                      Yes, you are correct. Front Sight had to include concealment in their 2 Day Basic curriculum so that it will be covered for the Skill Builder.

                      However, if you do NOT have your presentation from a holster down pat, i.e., QUICK, you will become increasingly frustrated with turning targets in the Skill Builder course, as you will not be able to get a shot off or you will try and go too fast and miss horribly.

                        I agree with that. And don't let your ego take over. If anyone takes the skill builder and doesn't do as well as they would have liked, just look at it as a learning experience and you'll know what you need to work on and focus on for next time. If you do that you will only keep getting better.

                          I was in the same Skill Builder class as Mrs. Scout in the video below and witnessed her frustration. She was NOT a happy camper!

                              So after looking at the responses, it looks like the correct sequence for somebody like me who is a better than fair target shooter, but with no real training or experience in holster draw, presentation, and timed shots, would be skip the 2 day defensive hand gun and start with the 4 day defensive handgun and on to the 2 day skill builder and then 2 day tactical and 2 day advanced tactical. Does that sound right?

                                4DDHG ---> Distinguished Graduate (DG) ---> Tactical Handgun ---> Advanced Tactical Handgun
                                4DDHG ---> Graduate (G) ---> Tactical Handgun ---> 2D Skill Builder ---> DG ---> Advanced Tactical Handgun
                                4DDHG ---> Certificate of Attendance ---> 2D Skill Builder

                                Etc. etc.

                                You need to pass as DG or G in either the 4DDHG or the 2DSB before proceeding into THG or ATHG.
