    Ironman 2012

Why does the match run on weekdays? June 3-5 Am's and June 7-9 Pros

Any Am's from norcal interested in carpooling? We can rent an RV and save on lodging. I need four more people. Details to come once I get some more interest.

It's two matches. The tac optics division has its own match because of the number of shooters. Ask other divisions shoot together in another set of match days.

Some ' ironmen' shoot both matches. Make sure you've 4 guns for this match unless you're shooting Heavy Metal.

This year the MD is doing AM 3-5 and Pro 7-9. He may not let people shoot twice if AM fills up. Taken from BrianEnos.

I'm interested if I can get a shotgun in time. 850 rounds... now that's a match!

              Count me in

Trooper class seems the most interesting. Combining logistics and planning.
However, using the Saiga 12 puts me into Open division. I guess I better put the scope back onto the AK47.

Trooper sounds crazy. All your gear on your back and all the ammo you want but you must carry it.

It's only between stages so not too bad. There's some Blackwater guys who started a new division called Recon where you carry your gear and ammo all the time, including during the stage run!

RVs are expensive to rent. Why not just rent a big van and camp out?

a 12 person white van is more expensive than a 5 person RV but I will double check. A minivan may be too small for all the gear. You can sleep outside if you want.

If this is your first Ironman I would recomend you just stay at the match hotel. You are going to be real tired. Ironman is the mother of all *** kickers and a real bed and real shower are going to be worth the $$$. Secondly your going to be too tired to cook and there are several dining options within walking distance from the hotel including a sizzler.

As far as transportation a SUV towing a rented trailer is the way to go. We usually drop the trailer at the range during the match so we don't have to haul it back and forth. You don't need a monster trailer either, the small one is usually plenty for 3-4 guys.

How do you guys store your guns, ammo, and equipment securely during the tourney?
