          My speculation

Run it for a while to appease the bankruptcy court

Then sell the land as no legacy FS students will be there.

Finished a 2-Day Rifle Class at PF this weekend. Just made it in before the rain.

I live in Vegas, so I've been going out there regularly to shoot since the December change over.

Current curriculum "skill-builder-like" but using PrairieFires methods. Self-paced once the line is cleared for firing.

Pistol and Rifle basic fundementals are taught differently - grip, stance, weapons handling, etc.

Training is based upon current military/SF methods.

Staff has been sent for training at Mid-South in MS, and some instructors from Mid-South have given training at PF NV.

A lot of work from High Ready, rather than Sul.

All weapons manipulations up high in your "work space". Lets you keep track of the world around you as you perform manipulations.

Bays A-F have be razed to the ground. New Maintenance facility to take that location.

Extensive work being done Phase 3 with resetting poppers, spinners, etc.

Advanced classes and training still yet to be announced.

Huge array of stations for shooting clays. Tried it for the first time ever. Not my interest, but those who shoot clays say it is a very good set of courses.

Some work on canyons for experiences like Gunslingers Canyon.

              Positives:
FS has been taken over by Gun people who are building a gun training operation (as compard to a developer building houses).

These guys are the real deal in terms of their backgrounds - the place is now run by 2 retired Generals with boots on the ground

New owners have put $20-$30M into this investment, with more funding available.

I am being patient to see what they build.....

Grand Opening announced for Septmeber 23, 2023. Posted on the PF website.

LV_G22, thanks for the updates. Do you think PF is worth visiting from CA?

That is different from what we were used to doing at FS. I was at Gunsight in June taking a tactics class and a RM figured out I trained at FS and guided me into the GS way which is what you described as being done at PF. They didn't want me using SUL. The other RM caught us doing some FS stuff like their press checks and capturing rounds while unloading and he gave the entire class a short lecture on press checks and unloading.

I never took the entry-level classes at GS

Hey DRM6000. Good to hear from you. We have shot together at FS...

PM me and I can give you the pros and cons in more detail....

My short answer is that if you have the time and a few bucks and an open mind that it is always worth trying new training and techniques from really solid, professional place like PF.

I have taken 3-4 classes at GS also in the past few years, including their basic intro class. I went with a skill level far above an intro class (FS HCM), but did it with an open mind to just see, observe and take in their thoughts and techniques. Did the same with PrairieFire. I am not "above" a good intro class and live fire practice!

Last tactical class I took at GS, the instructor had me with Pistol at High Ready clearing a live fire shoot house. I like the technique. PF absolutely reinforced this with both Rifle and Pistol...

Did GS allow you to skip their entry level class? What did you have to show them, FS class credits?

I was granted an exemption from the prerequisite for a class. Exemptions are very rare and they don't do it very often. It's very unfair for other GS students. My situation was kinda unique. I was told not to discuss it.

I can tell you that FS training history doesn't fulfill the prerequisites.

Can you elaborate on the press check and capturing rounds lecture?

Been a while since I did a FS pistol class, but I press check enough during uspsa and my own practice that it's not theater for me anymore, and same thing with unloading and capturing the live round (though I eject my live round in to the air and catch it with my support hand).

Recommended places to lodge for a 5-day GS class? Prescott is too far, so, am thinking Chino Valley. Unfortunately, I hate cooking - so, it would be with places to eat...

                            Cheers,

Had a match recently where one of the shooters did that at "unload and show clear." He missed catching the round. And, unluckily for him - the round went straight down "vertically" on a small stone, etc. striking the primer. The round went off and grazed his leg. Yeah, a one in a million chance, figuratively speaking. ... He won't be doing that again...

While everyone is free to do their stuff, the GOAT of the competition shooting world do not do those "stunts" - Eric Grauffel, Rob Leatham, etc.

Can’t believe this thread is still alive!

Received invited to attend the Prairie Fire Grand opening but don’t really have the desire currently. Since attending the 4-Day Handgun (that’s now broken up into separate 2 day classes) and the 4-Day Practical Rifle (also now broken up into 2 separate classes) I e been taking classes with several different outfits, both local and out of state. heading out to Thunder Ranch in a bit for the Urban Rifle course.

I took advantage of the PF classes in March because they were $100/day, but until they’re more settled and established I don’t think what they’re charging is worth it. If I’m going to spend that kind of dough it’s going to be with a school or trainer who has an established rep.

I stayed in Prescott for all of my GS classes. Really easy drive each day.

Advantage: Prescott has great restaurants and bars all within walking distance.

Newer hotel: Hilton Garden Prescott is excellent choice.
