    Favorite .45ACP powder ?

200Grn RN plated used for punching paper out of semi-auto handguns

Unique , Power Pistol, or Bullseye on hand.

What would you start with ?

    I've only used w 231 in 45acp reloads,
but know many that swear by unique.

Of the three I would go with Bullseye, loaded at the top of it's range. I use 4.7 gr of Bullseye in my 1911 with 230 grn cast lead. Very accurate.

I know this wasn't part of your question but in the future if you can get some Accurate #5 or Ramshot ZIP buy them. They are very good.

Winchester WSF for my .45 ACP loads but lately it's been hard to find. I recently ordered 4 lbs of Expansion Industries ETR7 powder and I'm gonna try it out soon.

A year ago the answer was "anything you can find"
I'm a fan of Bullseye but since .45ACP has been around forever there's no shortage of recipes out there.

Tightgroup and WST...but W231, HP38, Unique, Bullseye work well too so, whatever you can find.

Bullseye is Ok. W231/HP38 was invented for the .45. I love, love, love W231.

Bullseye. It meters pretty well and gives consistent velocities. My standard USPSA "major" load is an Xtreme 200gr SWC over 5.2gr of Bullseye. I get 850 fps out of a 5" 1911 with that load.

I use 700x with a 230 gr RN Xtreme plated bullet in my 1911. It's a pretty clean burning powder but is pain in the azz to meter.

Thanks guys.. Will keep an eye out for some 231 and A5 in the future. Loaded up some Unique and Bullseye to try out.. I use the power pistol for other calibers, so I will save that for them..

Only WST so far. Some Unique on the way.
4.9 gr WST with either a 200 or 230 gr RN jacketed bullet
Love the accuracy. Having jam issues that may or may not be reload related though.
