    Xtreme 230gr RN problem

I bought some of these from the group buy a little while ago. . I usually load. Zero, delta or Montana gold. .

Has anyone else had problems with the bullets doing this? I noticed this a couple times and this is from a batch of 100 rounds. The bullets shoot nice and that is the reason I bought them, but now I have to double check everyone because those rounds won't cycle in my gun.

Yes. While I haven't had chambering issues, I've found the 230gr round nose to deliver piss poor performance. Some shoot well and others do not. Stick with Zero or Montana Gold.

Not enough bell in the case mouth. Add just a bit more and it should solve your problem

Sorry, but I laughed out loud when I saw this.

Anyways, flare your case mouths out more.

Yep, that's a reloader problem, not a bullet problem.

Not to harass or belittle you. As a NRA reloading instructor I would like to ask the OP a couple questions.

1 how long have you been a reloader?
2 how did you learn to reload?
3 did any one show you hands on how to set up your dies?
              4.Where are you in OC?
As I would be happy to show you if you need the help.

You can answer in a PM if you like.

I had same problem with 230 grain .45 hollow point. As stated by posts above flare case more and problem will be solved.

Like what most other have already said, the case mouth needs more flare.

Since it appears from the picture you are using mixed brass, measure several different brands of brass until you find the shortest case. Set the flare to the shortest case, and you shouldn't have any more problems. If you don't mind taking a little more time, get a chamfer tool and chamfer the mouth of the brass. It will also help.

I started a thread about a week ago over a question about a OAL for a x-treme 200 grn plated RN. One of the posters replied that it wasnt neccesary to flare case mouth because said bullet was rounded/tapered at base and would fit in a unflared case.

That poster is usually spot on but that time he was mistaken and if I would have tried to set those bullets as suggested I am sure I would have had the same results as the OP...

Ive loaded over 2k rds of Xtreme 230gr RN bullets and never a single issue with loading it or shooting it. Give it more bell and you'll be fine.

like other have said - not enough or no bell in the case.

if I had to guess you are learning on a progressive - which can make it difficult to feel when something isn't going right. Keep in mind we all make mistakes, especially when starting out.
