all my lever guns are vintage marlins. if you have to force the 6th round in hard enough to set off a primer then theres something wrong.

have you ever tried to set off a primer in anything other than a gun? i intentionally took primed brass, mounted them in the vice and tried several different objects and a hammer to set one off. even using a center punch, centered in the primer and a hammer it took a just right amount of force in the just right place to get one to go off. i wasted about 30 minutes messing with this and was only able to get 2 primers to eventually go off. i really thought it was gonna be easy

OK I stand corrected. never heard of pointed soft tipped for lever guns. He does need the tips on them I would not shoot withoout the soft tip.

Mine is unfortunately a newer Remlin. Good to know primers don't go off that easy.

What sets of the cartridges in a tube fed weapon is the recoil of the firearm causing cartridge to strike the round in front . What a dummy.

I just got my 1000 delivered, and other than some tarnish everything looks good to go. Not one missing tip that I can see.

This is why I don't buy blems, defects or seconds.

Been buying blem bullets from Midsouth for a few years now, and I can never figure out why they are blems.

This is a new one for me...

Me, too, with zero issues. Unfortunately for the OP, it looks like he was just unlucky..... but at least MS is apparently making things right.

I just finished loading up some test rounds, and might be able to sneak away tomorrow to send some downrange.

Interesting side-note to reloading with these bullets. I'm using a Lee die set, and with their seating die the best I can do for a COAL is 2.580. The spec is 2.550. Not a big deal as the round will chamber safely and I can crimp right at the bottom of the cannelure, but interesting that the die bottoms out before I can get to the desired depth.

I think it has to do with the seating button in the die in relation to the pointy tip.....

Well - I snuck off to the range yesterday to take a few shots with the 160gr Hornady bullets, and they did pretty well. I fired them out of a 1947 Winchester 94, off-hand, at 50 yards. I only had a chance to burn off 20 of them, but they look promising.

I may not be the dead-eye that some of you are, but I'll take 2-3" offhand groups out of an old ranch gun as a good indication that these bullets are flying OK.

I ended up with 48 missing tips. E-mailed midsouth and never got anything back. Emailed again 2 weeks later and got a reply back saying they never recieved my last email. Also said it looks like im sol because they have no more bullets left? Last time I checked they said they would reimburse for unusable bullets, not replace them. Well see how it goes

Put 'em up for sale, a T/C pistol owner might be interested. .30-30 is a fun round in a Contender, recoil like a .44 Mag.
