Which powder trickler

I'm going to have to pick one of those up. I've been tricking by hand (but not to aggressively lol) and would like I try out a tickler instead.

I just use an old .223 case, fill it with powder, and twist between my fingers and thumb to trickle to the desired amount. Works great and doesn't cost anything. I've only had to trickle stick powder like IMR 4064 so far, not sure how it would be with ball powder but it would probably work as well.

I use a Frankford Arsenal trickler and works fine. Before getting that I used to just use a 223 or 308 brass. Free and works fine.

As the two competition shooters above said your thumb and forefinger work great.Pinch some powder and then roll your fingers while watching the scale.

It's probably not the greatest idea to allow gunpowder to come into contact with your skin. I'm not a physician or anything, but I imagine chemicals can get absorbed and probably aren't so good for you over time. Better safe than sorry for me. I avoid touching gunpowder if possible.

I like my Redding

I went with the Redding because it seemed to have the heaviest base of the ones I looked at.

It's a skosh short though. I need to put it on a stand to easily get my powder pan back onto the scale. I bump the trickler as I replace the pan and drop a kernel or two sometimes.

I own several lyman products and have found them to be great quality, as well as much cheaper than RCBS most of the time. some people get hung up on brands and feel the need to spend more money on something they don't need to. I buy whatever looks well-made and is priced well. so far the only RCBS thing I use is their reloading trays, because they looked like a better design than the others and were priced similarly. thus far I can't say I feel that way about any of their other products and have bought accordingly. call me cheap or "ignorant" but I know quality when I see it, and also know when I'm getting screwed or not.

I have the RCBS... no complaints. The adjustable height looks like a nice feature but other than that I don't think there is any real difference between how either works.

Go with the Lyman.

I have the RCBS and I love it, but the Lyman has more of an angle to it so it is easier to trickle with. I tend to have to tilt my rcbs all the time. If that lyman leaks H110 toss it though.
The RCBS does not leak H110 and they did an excellent job of drilling that out one. I WAS eyeballing the lyman the other night too in their catalog. If I felt like it I might even consider that Hornady fast trickler for $80. But the Lyman should be good.
