Crimped primer question 45 ACP

Was sorting my brass and came to this few cases that looked like they could be crimped primer. I when I put an used primer in it just to see if they are going to go in, in which they did without issue. So now I'm a bit confused if they are or not. Was wondering if I could get some assistance. LARGE picture.

From the looks of them most all are crimped.

I know they used to, check'em. Take that TZZ head stamp & toss'em. I've thrown out handfuls because of large variations.

Oh WCC we meet again... Ya those are crimped, so are the WCC 9mm (my personal battle) So you have three options:

1. Try to reload as usual and lose your mind (tried going slow but still had ugly primers seated)

2. Toss, recycle, or trade.

3. Remove the crimp (also a PITA) I think RCBS has a primer pocket swaging die set for pistols, but Im not sure.

I had a bunch of different crimped cases, and my RCBS swager fixed 'em right up. Once you swage the TZZ's, there's not a thing wrong with them. If I get a case where the primer goes in loosely, but still stays in when I put it in my Kinetic Bullet Puller backwards and smack it on the bench a few times, I mark the base with a marker, and load it. That way, I can chuck the marked one(s) when I start processing them.

TZZ cases were the only cases I could never set my dies do what you want.

Never read anything good about TZZ so those are going on the waste pile.

Thanks for the leasons fellas. Not going to use them unless I really have to and by then I will propbably have the reamer/swager equipment since I will be reloading rifle soon. Thanks again

well they are mil spec so they crimp them cause you dont want a primer to pop loose in a thompson

i think they also crimp the small primer non toxic ones

I use a cutter cuts a nice little bevel where the swedge was helps in seating.

TZZ and Amerc go straight to the scrap bucket.

I perfer to ream crimps. the small bevel helps primers line up little better.

Whats up with tzz brass? I've used some of it and works fine. Its military IMI made brass.

They are one in the same. LRP and LPP use the same swage setup. The same goes for SRP and SPP.

i use the same tool to fix them as i do with my crimped 308 and 30-06

i also use a little countersink bit just to make the primers funnel in better

$35 or so gets you a primer pocket swaging die from RCBS. Good die. I used it on .223 LC and it did pretty good.

Harbor freight also sells counter sinks for like $2.99. They fit on the end of a driver, takes about less then a second to bevel those crimps on most cases.
