I want to start reloading and this might be my first kit.

Any thoughts? Opinions?

So far I will only reload .223.

Can't go wrong with RCBS, great gear, best warranty and customer service in the industry. You should go to a CGSSA Reloading Club clinic first though so you have a clue as to how to reload safely.

I just bought one also, only my kit had a few more items included, and cost a little more. It was used, and I bought it right here on this forum. I haven't even gotten it yet, but I am so looking forward to it. The guy let me make a couple payments on it, so I'll get it next month when I pay it off. I have been watching a lot of videos on Youtube and it looks so nice and sturdy. You know that Sportsman's Warehouse has these same kits on sale for $299 right now. And if you wait till black Friday, the Sportsman's Warehouse may have it even cheaper than that. But that isn't bad, so if you want it now, go for it.

Granite that's a great kit. I have one that I purchased back in 98'. Since it's your first time reloading it'll be a good step by step process with the single stage. Throw in a caliper, .223 rem case gauge, brass trimmer, .223 dies, and vibrating case cleaner and you'll be set. Do read the reloading manual that comes with the kit. Lots of good info there but we are here to help also. The press is solidly built like a tank. Congrats.

I have that same Rockchucker Supreme press and it's freaking bombproof. The only gripe I have with it is the horrible primer catching system on the press. Other than that, I'm very happy with the purchase.

With the exception of components, that kit includes almost everything you would need to start reloading .223 minus the dies and a means of cleaning, trimming, and measuring your brass.

Keep in mind that RCBS also has a $50 rebate available for purchases over $300 this year, so try and take advantage of that while you still can.

you cannot go wrong with a Rock chucker!

I have been using the same Rock chucker 2 since 1992 and only thing I have had to replace on it has been a couple of retaining rings.

Great first press and great to learn on. I bought one myself as my first press, knowing I would end up with a progressive. Even after getting my Dillon years ago, I still use the RCBS for load development or smaller batches.

Got 2 Rockchuckers one with their Piggyback turret setup. Not a lot of problems with primers missing the tray. I'd rather keep the priming ability than do the mod. Don't need a case gauge either just set the RCBS dies per their instructions and you're good to go.

Unfortunately, that mod only applies to the older Rock Chucker models. I have the RC IV and it has a different primer catching system.

In addition to this, those pesky spent primers like to fall out from the front of the ramrod where the presses priming system is located.
I've been using a straw wrapped in aluminum tape and it's worked fairly well and best of all, it's reversible. I'm working on an improved version at the moment.

As stated earlier, it's only a minor design flaw in an otherwise exceptional piece of equipment.

They have a fix for that whole messy primers everywhere problem, it is called a Lee Classic Turret...
