I'm new to loading & I bought RCBS carbide dies to get free shipping + a rebate last year and I haven't had much trouble crimping & seating at the same time. Easy instructions included on how to do it.R.I.P. Thomas C.Originally posted by d4v0sMy girlfriend and i used froglube last night in a pinch and it works great.Comment

I like my Lee set too.Comment

I would have bought a Lee, but the hoarder/gougers on Flea-bay were the only ones who had them at the time, so I bought a carbide 4 die set directly from Lyman. It's a real nice set.

I use RCBS, Lee, and Hornady... they all work just fine but some dies better than others.
Only thing I don't like about the Lee set is a powder though expander die...I would prefer using the RCBS or Hornady.
Lee seating die is ok since I prefer an adjustment that locks like the RCBS.
I am being nitpicky because they all make functioning ammo, but if I could mix and match die brands in a set I would.
I typically spend the bigger bucks on dies for my rifles... but haven't tried them for pistol yet.ExtremeXComment

On my Dillon 650 I use Dillon dies. On the single stage I use RCBS carbide dies.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I usually get carbide LEE for most all of my pistol dies.
It is like this, the PISTOL dies for normal straightwalled pistol shells like the 9/380/40/45 etc. (yes I know they are tapered, NOT straight walled, please get over yourself and let's not go there.) can be carbide and made of who knows WHAT next generation slickness and materials with a carbonfiber lockring and twin stage case ejector that is TiN coated to last 800 years, and they will ALL do the same thing, which is reload a pistol round. SO, Lee is usually the GOTO for pistols. Yeah go blow $200 for a custom high tech die set, how much more precision are you going to get at a 25' shooting distance free hand with a weaver stance. I bet my TRP will perform about as good in the accuracy department and it only has trijicon 3 dot...
For rifle dies I look to RCBS and Redding.
Dillon would be good too.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

Lee sizing die. More durable pin than the Hornady and easy to replace
Hornady expanding die, never goes out of adjustment and as another said don't care for the Lee powder-through expanding die.
RCBS locking seating die, superior to the Lee or Hornady imo..
Lee crimp die.
Through trial and error this is the combo that has worked best for me in 9mm."Hence it happened that all the armed prophets conquered, all the unarmed perished." - Niccolo MachiavelliComment
