aaaaaaand you posted this question 3 weeks ago, and got someone to do your homework for you..
Hey guys I have a lee single stage press with rcbs full length carbide dies for my 9mm. I'm loading xtreme bullets 9mm 124 grain round nose plated bullets, with unique gun powder. Now according to unique recipie for a hallow point 124 gr bullet it calls for 5.8 grains of powder. I've been told to load plated bullets to lead specs, but I can't find lead load date for my powder. Does anyone load xtreme bullets with unique gun powder? Or know a recipie I should use? Thanks for the help.NRA Life Member

Who needs a manual??? It's all on line.
Also, plated bullets only need to be loaded below max if the exceed a certain velocity, otherwise you can use the Fmj load data for geometrically similar bullets. Some will scoff at this, but in over 50,000 rounds of 9mm, 45, 357, and 44 loads I've never had a problem or a keyhole yet.I love America for the rights and freedoms we used to have.Comment

Agreed, google searches should be as follows:
site:calguns.net plated 124gr unique
site:calguns.net plated 115gr unique
Or you could mix it up, and omit Calguns as follows:
plated 115gr unique
plated 124gr unique
Then again you could do a google search for the following looking for a target-FPS you are after (after you do some more research), make sure to double-check against a reloading manual, or two(, or three if you are new to reloading, or unfamiliar with a platform):
plated 115gr unique fps
plated 124gr unique fps
I would suggest a BUNCH of research, and compare it to knowledge you already have (or a reloading manual if you are new to firearms and do not know the typical FPS similar to whatever you are shooting, firearm-wise).

There is a lot of data out there, and barrel-length and such are major factors that must be considered when researching. I would also suggest researching pressures for the firearm/platform you are looking to reload in and stay well-under that until you have some experience. Research-well, and be careful or you might get one of these:

But factory ammo sometimes blows up Glocks in .40, anyway: https://encrypted.google.com/search?...ed=0CAkQ_AUoAQ

X-treme bullets load just like FMJ so far for me. For 9MM Luger, I use 5.2-5.6 Unique for 124 RN and HP, 5.5-5.9g Unique for 115 grain RN.
I really like the X-treme brand of projectiles.
As always, check the loading manuals, and the Alliant web site for load info, and start 10% below max to start.Last edited by short circuit; 11-03-2013, 8:54 AM.Comment

a couple of reasons that may not be worth it to you but:
1. power goes out/no internet etc.
2. easy for someone to fat finger a source online; books are published and proofread many times (especially manuals)
3. you can index a reloading manual FAR faster than anyone could search the internet for load data.
just my personal preferences. I do not believe the internet has shifted the paradigm of sourcing load data over a manual just yet.Retired AccountComment

thanks to the guys with the serious answers, and to the others well whatever. Now I have done plenty of research and I keep seeing the answer of not loading plated bullets like fmj, but load them to lead specs. The reason im asking here is that I havent been able to find lead loading specs for 9mmn. So I figured id ask here where people have much more experience than I do. And just look at what the86d said, thats exactly what im doing, researching on my own and comparing what I find here. So thanks for your super helpful info bumslie. But anyways I appreciate the info everyone else.Comment

I would like to know what book you're looking at, or site you're searching that you claim cannot find data.NRA Life Member

This is not stroking ego there buddy. This is about you being able to safely find loads with published data for your own personal safety.
That is a serious question. If you're not able to look up published data, then there is a serious problem.NRA Life Member
