I use an old Bonanza tool. Now sold as the Forster Co-Ax Bench Priming Tool. I like it!

I THINK I have a solution for you...

In my quest to find the BEST hand priming tool I happened upon THIS:

Think about it, NO upside down or sideways primers, no stupid trays to pop off, and the shell holder is universal...

There was even a review or two done on it and it got really high ratings. (I actually meant reviews on a different website complete with video, but the amazon ones work as well.) There are also reviews on midway as well as the other site, google rcbs aps hand primer and you will find a website with a 6 in it, like 6mm or something. Duhh, here it is. http://www.6mmbr.com/catalog/item/1433308/892409.htm

There is a larger investment that you will need though:

      1. APS universal primer
      2. APS loader (which can be found cheaply in auctions and online, for around $30 or less)
      3. a few APS strips for about $1 apiece but they are reuseable
      4. a few extra seconds to load the strips and then get going.

I dunno about anyone else but this tool looks really good.

It is SAFE, FAST, and EFFICIENT. I guess you can substitute the typical shell holders for the aps loader and extra strips. THIS is in my opinion, the current BEST hand primer out there. Give it a try. I am looking to buy into it very soon...

Now if they only made it a hand primer/hand primer pocket swager...

I used to own a RCBS Universal and a Lee, but now I just prime on the single stage press. It's easier and I can still "feel" the primers seating just fine.

thanks for all the replies, i've since got the rcbs bench primer and it's working great for me. i can see the primers before they are set as well as the shell in the holder.

I stick my lee auto prime handtool diagonally in a vise so i can see the primer is the correct direction and gravity feeds them. out a few thousand pistol rounds I've had maybe 1 or 2 flipped primers this way. Sorry OP

I have two Lee hand primers, I have one set up for large and one for small. Been using them since before electricity. Yeah, every now and then I get a burp, but like another poster I am watching Family Guy when I am priming, it happens....one out of 5-500. I can always pull it down even if it gets powder and bullets. I use plastic boxes and fill em primers up, just for this reason. I can live with that. I don't like touching primers by hand if I can help it.

I've tried the bench primer plus 3 or 4 other tools and they all stink. I keep going back to the crappy little Lee hand tool. I've worn out and broken 2 or 3 of them.
