There are sources on the internet that point out to the Hodgdon Fire has stopped production until 2014.
Bad for me that I use Universal Clays, Green Dot, H110 and H4895 mostly.Spreading the WORD according to COLT. and Smith, Wesson, Ruger, HK, Sig, High Standard, Browning

Have you purchased powder from them recently? It is difficult for me to believe that IMR-4064 is available, much less at the quoted prices ... from anywhere.I'll share my source for powder, although i dont really think its a secret...

I read only a reference to Clay's being out indefinitely. These factories are tin sheds in the desert with embankments to contain explosions. There's no way the whole operation goes down over one fire. Some companies also have alternate sources, like Canada and Australia making the same formula.Comment

Yea, but the sources cannot quote a verifiable source because it is FUD. The rumor is that the Thales Australia Limited plant in Australia, which makes Clays under the Hodgdon label had a fire. The plant is in full production. They may have had a small fire in one machine and the rumor became exaggerated and went viral."Hence it happened that all the armed prophets conquered, all the unarmed perished." - Niccolo MachiavelliComment

I just ordered 8 lbs of 748, and 2 lbs of 296. About a couple weeks ago I tried to order something and they let me know they did not have it. They were honest about it. Now, they get so many orders and they're inventory may not be 100% correct the moment you get on their website.
I'll let you know when i get it or get a tracking number, but so far, so good.Comment

I typically keep, at minimum, 2 lb of pistol powder, 4 lb of rifle powder, 5k-10k of primers, and 3k-5k projectiles in components. That does not included the loaded ammo I have around.
Assuming you have the means, always buy in bulk, it's cheaper.
If necessary, organize a bulk order.
I have been active in this hobby for over 25 years and have been through many panics, 1989, 1994, 2000, 2008, 2012.
I learned after 1994, it never hurts to have too much, you can always sell it or trade it.?The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not a ?second-class right,? subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.? ?.. To hell with everything else, WE ALL knew where we were those days in 1989 and 1994 and as reloaders those are our infamous days to remember...

I've been reloading since the early 90's. I well remember the 94 panic but wasn't anything like this. Hell I've still got primers and powder from back then (Yeah I didn't do as much shooting for many years. Last year or so getting back). Clintonista regime was a huge wake up call but too many never lived through it.
But I do remember 89 panic as far as guns. Only Kali though. 94 was national. Except without proliferation of Internet and dozens of millions of new shooters and many many new reloaders. I seems to recall 94 being not that bad.
This past year has been interesting for me because I learned my lessons 20 years ago and I was well situated prior to. In fact I'd gather many of us old enough were because we knew it was a when, not an if.NRA Life Member since 1990
They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Despite what you wrote, I wouldn't consider using rifle primers in my pistol loads. Besides, I don't need primers. I was just commenting on their availability. Thanks for your good intentions.Comment
