It depends on what you are sizing. For handgun, I dump a hundred rounds in a plastic tub, rub Imperial Sizing Wax on my fingers, and run them through the brass for a minute or so, lightly coating the cases, then go ahead and size them. i use carbide dies, but they still size better with a little lube. For rifle, I use RCBS case lube on a pad. I tried spray lubes, but did not like them as much. You might find a totally different solution, experiment a little. For neck sizing, I use Imperial Dry Sizing Lube it the beads.

I would skip all of the good lubes and just use the best lube which is Imperial Sizing Die Wax.

Lanolin and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol

4 or 5 parts alcohol to 1 part Lanolin. Put into a pump spray bottle shake and spray and allow the alcohol to dry off and go at it.

The above is what the solution is for such spray lubes as Dillon and Frankford Arsenal.

I have lubed/sized 10's of thousands 5.56 brass into 223 w/o a single stuck case. Added benny is that it is non petroleum and will not destroy primers and or powders.

I love lanoline based case lubes. Never anything remotely close to a stuck case. Resizing effort seems so much easier too. I will use the Dillon lube until I can find lanolin to make my own.

I use RCBS Spray lube for 204ruger thru 50bmg and do not have a problem at all with it. Dump the brass into a baking pan. give a squirt and rattle them around another spirt and another rattle then start sizing. When done toss them into a towel, fold the towel over them, rub back and forth and you are ready to prime/load.
I have a bench mounted graphite pan/brushes for inside the necks. Abot every 3-5th one is all that is needed.

I tried the Hornady spray and had too many stuck cases.

I use to use the pad and sticky RCBS lube but it takes more time to do, is messy and harder to remove from the brass after sizing.

Try Hornady's Unique case lube, as good or better then Imperial and you get more for your money. Everytime I buy some there's somebody in the back round that says "best kept secret in the industry".

For a case lube that you're doing large batches of cases, 50 or over 100, the lanolin /alcohol case lubes are great. I found Dillon case lube to be the best. I tried the Cabela's brand mix and it didn't have enough lanolin in it and didn't work. I haven't tried the Frankford Arsenal brand.

I make my own in a 6/1 Lanolin / Alcohol mix.

Imperial Wax is one of the best lubes out there however, you get a small amount for the money. I bought a tin of it a number of years ago so I do use it for small batches of ammo. When I run out of it though, I've found some lower cost alternatives that work as well.

Over the past couple of years, (since I now have time to do this silly stuff) I've experimented with some other lower cost alternatives that work as well as Imperial. Kiwi Mink oil in the tin can works very well. Chapstick also works well. Recently, I tried Mobil 1 synthetic 20-50 motor oil. I was very surprised to find it works really well. I've read that the synthetic 80 weight gear oil works very well due to it's thicker viscosity. I really recommend that those of you that have some of this synthetic motor oil at home to try it.

I haven't tried the Hornady "Unique" case lube in the 4 oz. tub, but like 50 Shooter recommended, you get a lot of lube for the money.

Again, nothing wrong with Imperial, but compared to other lubes that work equally as well, it is expensive for the amount you get.

Now, I use these alternative lubes on standard calibers, I don't reload for 50 Browning, 416 Barrett, 408 Cheytac etc., which might require a very thick viscosity due to the case size.
