Glad it to hear it went well. Got tied up in some hunny do's myself. I get some lead fishing weights to donate for next time around. Not in too casting so not sure what needs to be done. They been sitting since we bought our house. Will make sure I make the next one. Was hoping I could make it and see the wet tumbling.

I have around 3000 lbs of lead if you want to buy some. it's like a 97 lead 3% antimony in 1 lb bars. I can pull up the exact number/breakdown since I had it tested. Here is my casting and reloading set up too. If anyone has any questions or needs help with dillon machines or casting I would always be happy to help.

I would be interested. What are you looking to get per pound? I bought some, bit it is not here yet.

1 dollar a lb. I got some other stuff I'll sell for .65 cents a lb but it needs to be melted and fluxed. It smokes horribly when you initially melt it.

New reloader here in Livermore. I can host a get together some day, but for now I'd like to join and learn. To date, I've become an expert brass tumbler as I have yet to set up my presses. I picked up a rock chucker and a Hornady LNL progressive (hate that word). I'm thinking about mounting them to a 4' length of 2x12 so I can clamp them to any surface and reload anywhere. Long story short, I'll bring my longboard to the next meet up if I can. I have had a lot of questions and done a lot of research, but I'm sure more will come up as I go. It would be optimal to do my first batch in the presence of people who know and can yell "STOP!" at the appropriate times.

                  Welcome to the club!

Once you've read the manuals, I suggest getting your hands dirty and try a few rounds. Perfect excuse to get out to the range and try your own loads. Remember, check everything twice and take it slow.

When's the next get together? I missed the last one so I'm eager to make the next one.

I am willing to host again if needs be. Let's figure out what works, and I will make sure to be here.
I have been casting and PC a lot of bullets in the last month, and loading my cast bullets.
I just wish that I could walk outside and shoot my ladder loads like I can in placerville. That has been my main reason for going home lately.

I'm so thrilled! I got out to Livermore Rod and Gun Club this afternoon and put my first 50 reloads through the 1911. Every one of them went bang, with no accuracy issues and no indications of concerns when looking at the spent brass. I alternated with factory ammo so I could compare...no palpable difference. I have to say, I was trepidatious at first, questioning myself...did I do this right, did I do that right, etc., but all went swimmingly when the pin hit the primer.

I had a couple of issues with the Hornady LNL AP not indexing properly (resulting in a few primerless cartridges), but overall it went really well. I think from now on I'll tumble the brass after decapping to clean out the primer pockets, as I had one primer go bang in the press last night because it wouldn't cycle and I couldnt' get the semi-primed case out of the shell plate. I think it had to do with debris in the pocket. I'll deal with the indexing issue over the weekend, but I'm so much more comfortable with it now that I've put a few down the pipe. I may have to change my screen name to Reloading Addict. I very much look forward to the next (my first) get-together.

In case anybody is interested, I was shooting 230gr FMJ-RN Hornady bullets, pushed by 6.4 grains of Longshot.

Welcome to the addiction. I was out at Livermore on Sunday shooting 45acp, 9mm and 44mag reloads.

Congratulations!!! It's a nice feeling of satisfaction that something you've done works! I was VERY scared something would happen. So, I brought my on roster 1911 and shot my reloads with that just in case. I certainly wasn't going to use my Les Baer or my off roster XD-m! I used my flashlight and checked the barrel after each round to make sure I didn't have any obstruction for the first 10-20 rounds and used my gloves. I was looking quite Tactical that day if I may say so myself.

Welcome to the club and look forward to meeting you at the next group meet up.

FYI I will be busy this weekend and the following weekend and the 15th.

Hahaha!!! No, Although that's the first inclination to do it that way. I'd load one round, shoot and while the slide is back, shine a light from the muzzle end. If I see the light, I'm good, if not? I go to Plan B.
