I live in Walnut Creek right now. When I started loading, I was in college when I started, so my budget pushed me to Lee equipment. I plan to upgrade that as I start pulling stuff out of storage. I reloaded with a commercial reloader on Dillion equipment, and fell in love with those machines, so I'll probably go that route. I currently have the equipment to reload .380, 9mm, .40s&w, .45ACP, .223, .308, 7.62x54r, and maybe a couple others. I forget what all I have haha.

Yeah, I've reloaded probably 150-200k rounds, mostly on the 650 and 550. Personal ammo, probably about 10k combined between calibers over those two years.

I'm not sure if there is going to be another reloading meet up soon or not..... But would anyone be interested in meeting up at a range to shoot? we could also schedule some sort of BLM shooting day. let me know if anyone is interested.

Yup, it's been pretty quiet around these parts. I was hoping for a session once I got my Dillon up and running.

A shoot sounds like fun too, but BLM land is pretty far (I think) and it's crazy cold right now. But, I'd be up for it though!

Dug all my stuff out of the storage shed in Sac. Apparently not a moisture resistant storage option. I had sprayed everything with some One Shot, but it didn't prevent rust.

I had a minor panic attack, and dragged everything out of the shed. Looking over the dies, no rust inside, and the outside only had minor surface rust. So I took some WD-40, a few rags and a steel brush, and about two hours of my spare time and got everything looking as good as new... Maybe better than new, it is Lee equipment after all lol.

After I find a piece of furniture to use as a bench, I'll pull the press out of the shed. It looks to be in good order, with some minor surface rust on the steel supports that hold the turret above the base.

Everything will still be serviceable, but my heart is set on a Dillon 550. So I'll be keeping my eye on the used market. Dillons hold value really well, so I might just buy new.

Glad you were able to get it all cleaned up. I loaded 50 more rounds @ 4.8 grains of Bullseye. Had to do a bit more fine tuning. The wrench I have for the lock rings is way too big, so it takes a lot of doing.

I would be interested in some sort of BLM shooting day where we could get something longer than 200 yards.

Guys dont kill me... But i have been using channel locks. No my nuts are fine (Lol) and not all chewed up. Problem was finding a wrench to fit, on the 550 press. My other option is i have some faucet wrenchs that fit fine and clear. However i cannot hold the dies, and then tight the lock ring. I now use my channel lock, 430 and its all gtg.

After a bit more frustration, I ordered the Dillon wrench which includes 5 die rings too. Haven't been out to test how the wrench will work, but I doubt that it won't. It was a bit expensive, but I would say it is more than offset by the ability to make sure the dies are properly set and you don't mangle rounds and waste precious resources.

The UniqueTek wrench is not cheap either, but much better than the Dillon.

Take the nut to hardware store - get a facet repair wrench / tube . Also check harbor freight .

Scale wise - I re-weight the powder dump after each box of 20 [ 50 AE ] 25 on the 45 ACP and when either case , bullet or primer feeder get low / M T .

I don't know about Dillon , but my Lee master [Disk and micro ] powder dump seems to go light [ maybe powder dust build up . ] Once in a while heavy . I am teaching - have taught 4 nephews and 2 nieces to reload .
I prefer the lock nuts that have the " O " ring on them . I / we knock out the primers 1st and clean primer pocket . then into tumbler - lube - dry .
I bought extra heads [ the thing the dies go in ] one is a spare - 1 with 25 , 380 ACP , 45 ACP , 9 mm , 357 , 44 mag and 50 AE . The spare one is for 6 mm , 270 , 30-30 , 30 carbine 308 - . I have the dies for 40 glock / 10 mm but only a niece and her husband shoot the 40's .

Not a whole lot of activity here. Not sure if there is a North Bay Reloading club, but if/when there is another meet, you're more than welcome. Wherein the Napa Valley? I'm in Martinez, just a little south over the bridge.

You may want to check with Fetterly Powder/Optics (member and comm'l sales) if he knows of a reloading club up there.
