who's reloading 7.62x39 ?

I have been using Xtreme 123 gr .311 plated bullets with right around 20 grains of 4227 or a little more 4198. I get a few fte on my Yugo SKS but so far on the couple of Chinese SKS's I have cleaned up they cycle fine.

I am using Yugo Berdan brass also...... Anybody have any Yugo brass they want to sell?

Pre panic powder under $300/16lbs including shipping under .06 cents per round
Berdan primers when they were $115/case .025 cents per round including shipping

So thats just under .17 cents per round..... I will still buy steel cased Tula and Wolf at $250 a case here and there though.

Not much savings buying jacketed bullets, I cast mine with a lee mold and they work fairly well out of my mini30. -Chris

Sks's and ak's are pretty rough on brass.

My range allows golden tiger even though a magnet sticks its only the jacket also golden tiger says lead core right on the box.

What are you looking for? .54 a round? Lowest I've seen it even before the panic was 9.99 a box, you get to shoot it then reload it.

I don't know really... lol, 7.62 is still relatively a new caliber for me. I didn't realize 7.62 in brass form was expensive to begin with. For now, I will just shoot whatever I can; which at this point is golden tiger.

Gotta think, $60 for 5 boxes of brass cased 7.62 and you can reload it 5-6 times maybe more,that's 700+ rounds.... It's $30 for 100pcs of 7.62 brass

I think I know a local gun store that sells boxer 7.62x39 cases once fired. I will check it out tomorrow.

If you're looking to reload to save money, 7.62x39 is not the best caliber to try to do that with.

I'll claim that's false, if you're comparing the cost of your reloads to the price of domestic brass cased ammo like Fiocchi or steel cased like Hornaday.

If you're comparing with the price of Wolf, Tula or other import, then, yes, you're right.

I've reloaded about 3K rounds of x39 with excellent results, using bullets ranging from 110grns to 150grns, mostly using 1680 and CCI 7.62 primers and Win LR primers.

Note that the 110grn RN bullets would not feed well in my x39 AR but my SKSs ate them up fine.

These 123grn FP plated bullets fed fine in my AR as well.

All that said, I primarily use Hornaday 123 grn VMAX and ZMAX bullets, which I've found on sale from time to time and I've had very good results with (and they look kinda cool).

That's what I was comparing it to.

The truth of the matter is that most 7.62x39 shooters don't really need brass cases, and precision loads. If you're shooting an AK, or SKS with iron sights, precision loading is overkill. If you're using optics on an AK, then sure, you can probably justify it. If you're shooting an AR in 7.62x39, it really helps...

Well, this is a great reason to reload x39 as well. And if you already have a bench set up, it's just the cost of dies and components.
