Load a bunch of it - rifle brass specifically - and it will either cure you of picking up random range brass, or it will confirm your habit forever. In my experience, I'd rather have nice new or previously factory-loaded brass fired from my rifle to start with - I'm going to invest a massive amount of time prepping it, so I don't want to do it with a grab bag of headstamps and conditions.

I once bought a 30/30 rifle because I picked up two boxes of once fired brass at the range.

I remember you saying this a few years ago. I started saving 30-30 brass since & now I own a 30-30 rifle. Frank, You are an Enabler!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I once sucked up 53.5 lbs of brass one day at the range. Sure most of it was 9mm and 40 but I had a lotta 38, 45, 44, 45lc, and .223 too OH and a few 10mm also. Damn it was heavy too. SO glad I brought my new canvas bag with me that day. I think it filled in about a third of the 5 gal bucket. I actually sorted it out right then and there cause I really wanted them 10mm out of there and I did not wanna wade through 80 lbs of 40 to find a few 10mm.

I have actually purchased dies and loaded ammo in calibers for guns I do not own, just because I had picked up a bunch of brass.

Now I need to buy the guns. It truly is a sickness, but I'm not complaining.

OP, are you implying whores cannot like shiny things? That could get you in trouble...
Before I took the plunge and got a press, I collected only 9mm - what I use most and figured I'd eventually reload.
Now I collect brass for guns I don't have (yet).

Its ok to pick up brass of calibers that you don't shoot, as long as you process and trade them here.

My philosophy is simple, grab it all, and trade what you do not use for what you want later on. So I am always trading away 45LC and 38SPL for stuff as well as 9mm. 9mm is so all over the place with me that I think I will start using it to make macaroni art on the fridge...
