Well actually industrial metal prices have not gone up much at all in recent years.
I'm glad someone correct the FUD before I did. I'm tired of FUD driven shortage/price increase.

Even when the price of metal of was on the rise a few years ago, the rate of the increase in final product far out paced the increase in raw material cost. For example, the cost of lead (Pb) increase by 2% on open market, and now the price of ammo goes up by 300%. This suggests the increase in price is driven by demand that is localized in certain market segment that is driven by factor (fear) that is unique to that particular market segment.

Unfortunately, there are still people who refuse to see the truth and believe the ammo price will continue to rise and act accordingly by buying up everything regardless of price. Until those people either 1. run out of money or 2. come to the senses, panic will never be over.

$35 at your LGS looks pretty good. At the Vallejo gun show today Miwall was selling Winchester and CCI primers for $34.95/k. That is all they had.

There have been several bills introduced that would affect our ability to purchase ammo and/or components.
          (List of bills here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=653087)
If any of these bills pass, that will have a negative impact on prices, driving them up further.

If/when prices do fall, it will probably be after we know which bills become law.

However, even if we look at the best case scenario and none of the bills pass, history still tells us that the price of ammo rarely ever goes back to what they were pre-panic. Below is a post I made in another thread.
Keeping this as objective as possible. I buy rimfire and components for 22 250. Prior to 2000 I was paying 8.96 for 550 rds of .22 every and any day.
by 2002 they spiked severely to $15.95 by 2006 they jumped again to $19.95
Perhaps you'll remember some of the explanations de jour.
It's China's fault, It's India's fault, It's the price of freedom so Saddam won't come here and get us while we are in bed sleeping.
Prices are up because shooters panicked and hoarded!

          Fear isn't your friend!

BTW, I bought several boxes of Fed Mag primers prior to 2000 for $15.00 American! I bought some CCi in 2006 and they jumped to 18.95
