How much was primer before the panic?

Visited a LGS that happen to have some small pistol primer for $35/k. They didn't have any small rifle primer I was looking for. In any case, I'm just wondering, before panic, how much was the price of primer per 1k when purchase in bulk? (bulk = 5K or more)

    thanks

I used to pay 25 per thousand before the panic. Right now 35 is just about right all the way up to 40.

$35 from your LGS is not bad considering you do not have to pay hazmat fees. Gun show prices were in the $20 to $30 range for 1k. At the Fresno gun show a couple of weeks ago Discount Shooters was selling them for $60 and some guy with a table wanted $90/1k.

Between $15-$30 depending on brand. I am still finding good prices.

28-35 in a store. I refuse to pay anymore than that. When every body stops buying the high priced stuff the 60 per k will come down.

I still have a couple of bricks of WSR and WSP primers with $15.95 written on them!

Thanks for all the good information.

I call on all to stop buying primer until the price returns to the pre-panic level. Pre-panic is defined as average found in 2012 before sandy hook.

I think we all agree, the price will never return to your great grandpa's level.

                      irrelevant!

While you're posting in giant bold letters, why don't you tell us to stop buying gasoline to get to the range until prices drop to the price of 10 years ago? coffee? burger?

I look at it as how much per round I am saving by reloading. Half the price is still half the price.

I stopped by Canyon Sports in Martinez yesterday. 3 boxes of CCI LRP. This is no joke $49.95. I bought another box (last box available) of 1k Winchester today from an old gun club member selling out for $30.00. I have all kinds of shells primed but, no powder. Can't find any H4895 or IMR4895. Damn hoarders!

At the costa mesa gunshow 2 weeks ago, I paid 179.00 per case of 5000.
they were CCI 400 small rifle primers. They were completely out of small pistol primers by Sat. afternoon

It would appear you have your priority all wrong. Buying component or ammo is not on the same level as food and gas.

You must be aware that there are people out there who are still believing the price will stay at the higher level, or even higher. This is simply not true. The panic price is no different than the housing bubble. The consumer group for the firearm simply cannot support that higher price some of the buyers are asking? Granted $25 to $35 is almost reasonable. The $90 price for 1k some have been seeing in the gun show is simply crazy.
