Garand reload powder question

Is IMR 4350 powder a good choice for reloading 150gr and 165gr bullets for the Garand? Is the burn rate of 4350 sufficient for proper cycling of a gas op firearm or would some other powder like IMR 4895 be a better choice?

Anyone have a favorite load they'd recommend for the Garand using 150gr or 165gr projectiles? The anticipated disclaimers about safety are understandably implied.

No, 4350 is too slow and use will result in pressures that can/will mangle your rifle.Try IMR 4895 (Uncle Sam used it in the Garand), H4895, IMR 4064, or others in that burning range AFTER you consult a good loading manual - Hornady's book has a few pages about loading for the M-1. I've used 45.7 grains of IMR 4064 under a Sierra 175 for long range in my Garand; worked better than LC67 Match ammo.

IMR4064'ish is about the slowest powder you should use in the M1.

When in doubt, IMR4895. Try 46.0grs of it in a surplus case.
