Wolf Primers

3K of Tula LPP with no probelms at all. I have read that the Wolf and Tula are the same except for packaging. Like the post above I do find them a little harder to seat than CCI. Have 7K left before I have to touch my CCI stash.

11K of wolf LP used and only experienced on dud and found one that was missing it's anvil.

I've only used 1k Wolf SPP, but they're all I'll be using from now on.

They've worked out great in my two M&P's, not one dud.

I was gonna get some at ASR Reloadig store, but they were the same price as the cci. Went with cci. I've used about 6,000 cci primers, no problem at all.

I only used large rifle primers. When I compared it to Federal large rifle match primers, the Wolf primers gave me better groups. I have talked to one of the national long range shooting champions, and she said she uses Wolf primers, and most shooting champions use Wolf primers, also.

I have not tried small rifle or pistol primers yet.

I use a lot of the Tula small pistol and Tula Small rifle with good results. Tula and Wolf are the same.

I've had a 1-2% average dud rate in 1.5k of wolf small pistol primers. They were manufactured during a time frame when they had a bad lot a couple of years ago. Other than that I have not read anything bad about them.

I'm suspicious toward those that say they've had problems with Wolf or Tula. Excessive problems that is, like 5 in every 100 rounds. IMO its due to not seating them all the way. They are harder than others so some guys may not be use to the power required to fully seat them but IME they do work.

I've never had a problem with them and probably shot them out of 20 different guns. Rifles, pistols, and revolvers. They always go bang for me.

That's what happened with those two CCI primers that didn't go bang the first time (this was my first experience with CCI's). Upon further inspection, I found a couple that I hadn't seated as deeply as I should have. So, I just treat the Wolf/Tulas like CCI's, and it's been no problem.

I heard about that bad run. Supposedly that's what got the importer to change the name from "Wolf" to "Tulammo". Kinda like Blackwater changing its name to "Xe". To this day, you can find Wolf-branded primers fairly cheaply (e. g. Widener's), but the Tulammo-branded ones are going up in price. I know which way I'm going. :-)

Does anybody know which lot of Wolf spp were "bad"? I love the price but not so sure I want to run across the "bad" bunch.. malfunction drills are nice to practice but id like to actually shoot as well.

Note: I bought my Wolf primers in 2010, and none of mine have had a problem. Perhaps it was some "old stock" that some folks had bought in 2009. I heard that's when they had the problem--somewhere between 2008 and early 2009, during the Obama Scare.

Also remember that Wolf (and thus Tulammo) primers are basically mil-spec, which means harder, just slightly thicker, cups. That means you've got to seat them fully. When you read the above thread, notice that several people pointed out that a second primer strike would go bang. That's typically indicative of not seating the primer fully.

If I were you, I'd go ahead and buy 'em. Heck, I did. :-)

They suck, just give the wolf primers to me

I mean.....I just got 9k more of them today with some powder from powder valley. Right now my 9mm competition gun only gets wolf spp. They are good enough for the local match I do. If they slowed me down, I wouldn't use them.

The bear creek bullets work good in a few guns I use, but they didn't seem consistent enough in my 9mm for the competitions. The price is sure nice on those bear creeks though.
