RCBS rock chucker worth it?

I have a pair of them. Both are 25-30 years old and work fine. I wouldn't buy any other single stage press.

oh, they're very good! Bought mine in 1978, don't need another single-stage.
When i needed to replace a couple of parts[simple things, like pins and such just due to use], RCBS sent them for free on request. You'd do very well with the RC.

rcb is really good with their warranty and customer service. Once, i abused an RCB die, broke something, ask customer service about where I can order a specific part, and they just mailed it to me free-of-charge...moreover, it even came with extra stuff that I didn't even ask for.

Yes, get the RockChucker. I also agree with getting the full kit setup.

Started out on a Rockchucker. Thought I would sell it once I'd get a progressive, but instead it is mounted right next to my Hornady LNL AP and both get used.

I love the Press but I m NOT a fan of the dies. I bought two new dies from RCBS to find out that the threads were messed up. It simply would not screw in! It was stuck halfway and I had a hard time taking it out. I quickly returned them to Midwayusa, and bought Redding dies and couldnt be happier.

Poor quality control! RCBS made great stuff but I heard that RCBS is making some of their reloading stuff in China now. I think those crappy dies I got were most likely made there.

Rock chucker is fine, but starting out reloading it may be more press than you need or ever will need. If you never plan on loading big cases or swaging bullets you can certainly get by with less press -
Lots of used press's for sale and the lee classic is also decent.
Most all press's that have not been abused will last a lifetime.
My $13 Herter press is still healthy after 50+ years.

I have a Rock chucker with the Piggyback. I bought a RCBS JR2 2-3 years ago real cheap. The JR's were pre Rock Chucker, and would be more than adequate for your needs.

I got my Rock Chucker and kit back in 1977 and it is still my go-to press, unless I'm loading up a bunch on the Dillon 650. I might replace it with a Harrell's, but I'm not ready yet.

And since I do all of my brass prep before I get to the loading part, including seating primers, I can load almost as fast on the Rock Chucker as I can on the Dillon, since half of the Dillon cycle is dedicated to resizing and priming......

The Rock Chucker is a good press for the money but I think its got one flaw. The spent primer catcher system is a bad design. It tends to drop spent primers on the floor often when your depriming brass. Thats what I found when using the one I had. I went to a Hornady-Pacific 007 press that I have been using for over 20 years. I seem to like the Hornady better. Dont get me wrong, you cant go wrong with the RCBS....

+1 on Chucker!! 30+ years and still going strong. Lifetime warranty for all RCBS products. They'll send you anything broken on the press. The compound leverage is great for those long rifle cartriges including Magnums!!!
