Cabelas: Panic Buy Now!

For those who don't yet reload there is some sense of urgency. It may not be immediate, but I forsee the cost of handgun ammo rising significantly in price before long. Fingerprinting and ID info, in addition to substantial fines for book keeping errors, means increased costs passed along to consumers. Some local ammo retailers will quit selling ammo altogether. One of the clerks at my local WallyWorld expects that they won't be carrying ammo after 1/30/2011, (currently, my WallyWorld is the cheapest handgun ammo around- even better than bulk pricing online). The law of supply and demand will eventually come into play. The Progressives/Liberals have succeeded in screwing us again! "What good are guns without ammo?".If you like your Constitution you can keep your Constitution; if you like your guns you can keep your guns, period.Comment

I asked Cabelas about reloading components:
"We will still ship the reloading components. The law will just affect us selling loaded handgun ammunition.
If you have anymore questions that we could help you with do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thank you for contacting Cabela's and we hope to hear from you again in the future.

I think everyone should start buying everything they can to reload.
As I have mentioned before, I have everything I need to start reloading. and once I get the hang of it, I plan on starting to make my own bullets.
Once that happens, the only thing I will need to actually purchase will be powder and primers.
If the government cannot take away our guns, their (the government) next logical step is to impact our ammunition availability.
A gun without ammo is totally useless. I think this AB962 is just a stepping stone in a larger plan.
It makes no sense why they would ban hand gun ammo? all the heat has always been about assault rifles.
If they are so concerned about assault rifles, why are they trying to impact the purchase of handgun ammo?
If AB962 does not get knocked down I would be anything rifle ammunition will be close behind.
And the only way to prevent the government from making our firearms useless is to start reloading.1 Peter 3:15

Stopped by Cabela's in Reno on the way back into town and saw that the panic buying was already in place. The typical folks you'd expect. Young males stocking up on shopping carts of 9 and 223. Older gentlemen buying 4-5x what the young guys were buying. Had to sit back and laugh (FWIW, they were sellingXM193AE223 at $9.99/box and PMC 223 at $8.99/box; Haven't bought ammo in years, but it sounds like a good price).
Got to talking with one of the salesman who, as usual, was putting out wrong information and he stated that Cabela's recently had a corporate 'order' come down that they will not allow in store pick-up of large ammo orders bought by someone from California. On the shelf, no issues. Large orders being picked up...no. Weird to say the least.

ETA: Just stopped in to look around and pick up a bottle of Hoppe's which apparently has turned to gold because Cabela's and 3 Walmarts in Roseville & Antelope didn't have it.Last edited by uscbigdawg; 01-15-2011, 9:54 PM."Speed is a tactic!" - R.W.

Rich, I missed you today.
Cabelas is honoring the "California only Sale" to walk in customers. No need to pay hazardous or shipping. I picked up 2k 9mm today for 399.99 OTD. Needed ammo for Front Site. Paking lot was 70% California plates.
Also I witnessed this.

Don't be so sure about that. With more people reloading I wouldn't rule out gouging on primers & powder. I already pay around $25/lb and when I was in Kansas found Bullseye & 2400 at $17/lb.
Yeah... I brought a few lbs back with me...
I'll probly be picking up a few thousand primers this week."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
