Have to love reloading...
In the same time it would take me to get in my vehicle, drive to the local Walmarts, and realize they had no ammo at all, I would have made enough rounds for an entire trip to the range...with lots of rapid fire fun. All in the comfort of home. That, and the fact that I save lots of money over buying factory, is why I reload.Comment

Not only do you enjoy the reduced costs by reloading , but your reloaded ammo is alot more accurate then factory ammo. Truth be told your not really saving much however you get to shoot twice as much then you used too!Just did the math for my 6.5-284 reloads and came up with $12 for a box of 20 rounds. Price check online puts similar rounds at the cost of $60 for 20 rounds. For $60 I can make 100 rounds, 5X as much. Its amazing how much you can save with reloading or you could also say its amazing home much more you can shoot for the same cost of factory

I sleep comfortably at night knowing that when the Zombies are pounding at the door I can retreat to the command and control center (garage) and load enough ammo to shoot my way to the great white north where Zombies freeze and become harmless...

I used to have a what we in Junior High called a "girlfriend". In reality she was just a good friend. Anyway, her family was big into shooting. I'm talking the kind of family that takes vacations to shooting matches around the country. Anyway she used to brag that she had enough ammo made in her garage to hold up the neighborhood for a week. I went over one day and sure enough 1/4 of her 2 car garage was stacked 6 feet high with ammo of all kinds. the other 1/4 of the garage was filled with large almost walk in safes. I wish we were still friends

from range pick of of brass to final product
i'll be honest quite a while
i tumble it for about 3 hours then it takes me about a half hour to size/decap them i lube each one with some vasalene then about 5 minutes of rubbing them on a teeshirt to get the lube off the lot
then since i'm a weirdo i go and clean out the primer pockets that takes me another half hour or so cause it also allows me to determine if the pockets are crimped if they are then it takes me about 15 minutes to do a little reaming
then i check them all for length sometiems i get lucky and find a few that are less than 1.755 and dont have to trim them but anything over 1.755 i trim down to about 1.745 with my lee nightmare i hate it the cases sometimes slip out the holder but it is cheap each one gets trimmed then inside debur with a lyman deburing tool and outside deburred using a fine mill bastard file that takes me another hour or so
then i prime them on my single stage press one by one that takes about a half an hour
after that is all done i use my perfect powder measure to charge a case then place it on the shell holder and seat a bullet with the seater die that takes about another half hour
then to me they are ready to fire i do not crimp
all my times are approximate and i'm in no real hurry when i do my reloadingLast edited by bohoki; 02-25-2010, 12:40 AM.Comment
