Do you remember cheaper ammo prices?

I remember around 2010-2011 maybe even 2012 1k of PMC bronze .223 was 289$ shipped. Do you folks remember ammo even cheaper?
What actual prices and calibers do you remember seeing?

    Sure.

The last ammo i bought in bulk was HXP greek 9mm, it was $119 to my door. South African battle packs line my garage, ive never tapped into it but it was less than $50 per pack with shipping.

I started shooting in 2012, so I got in at the tail end of reasonable prices. It was the lead up to the election, so prices were going up because of a 2nd Obama term possibility. But, 45 acp was about $30/100 or so(?). It crept up to $40/100 and then after the Sandy Hook shooting, it jumped to almost $60/100 at one point. I was driving about an hour to the not so local Walmart in Milpitas to buy a box or two of ammo (I was living in San Ramon at the time). There were very few places I could pick up ammo nearby that wasn't too expensive.

Then, I remember discovering Freedom Munitions and having 500 or 1000 rounds delivered to my door. Ahhh...the good ole days! LOL!

I bought a Dillon XL650 soon after that and by 2014 or 2015 was reloading all of my 45 ACP. 9 mm is still not a priority. I have the dies, brass and bullets, but no primers. Not sure if I will pursue it or not.

Purchased 9mm for $189/k, 7.62x39 for $199, and 7.62x54r spam cans for $90 before Sandy Hook at the Cow Palace. Also 525rd Blazer packs of 22lr for $15 using a coupon at Big5. Didnt own a 5.56 but remember $7/box of 20.

I can clearly remember IPSC shooters loudly beaching because they didn't get the less than one
penny per primer price when they purchased a 5,000 primer flat of Winchester LP primers.

Yes, I recall going to Gemco's and paying $8.99 for a brick of 22. That price stayed like that for a long time, or close to it.

I only shot 22, 410 and 20ga growing up. When you compare things theses days. Ammo really isn't that bad. What's the cost of a brick of 22 these days, $35.00? It's really not that bad.

When I started shooting, 9mm was $90 for 1000. I didn't pay attention to other prices until about 15 years later when I bought my second gun.

Slightly less than a penny per round for .22LR.

                      I remember loading 124g plated 9mm for $38/1000. I remember 1000 or 1200 rd cases of 7.62x39 being $75. I remember Winchester white box 5.56 being $175/1000. I remember 12 birdshot under $4 a box.

Yup regular pmc in late 90s was as low as 2.99 per 20 wolf could be 1.99 on sale. Ak rounds were 1.99

                        45 was 6.99 or so 9mm cheaper 22 about 8-10 per brick

Reloading I began in 98 I paid 8-10 per 1k primers,35-40 per 1k of 55fmj,22 bucks a pound of 335 or get we 844 in 8 pound size for 80 bucks I think. 45 230grn was 28-37 per 500. My Dillion sdb for 45 you all don?t wanna know what paid lol. Let?s just say it probably cheaper than buying a 9mm conversion kit with new powder dropper today.

Not quite that low, but all hardware stores carried them.

First CCI-LRP I bought were 39 cents per 100. From [UNIVERSAL ARMS] on Paramount Blvd, from Dick Donoho in 1968. Hodgdons repackaged surplus bulk IMR 4895 was $1.50 a #. <[had to bring your own coffee can]. LEE Loader .308 whack a mole kit was $8.95.

My first ammo purchase, as a new hunter at age 9, in 1958. Was 39 cents a box, for 22 shorts from [Efton Shirkeys Gen Store & Feed] on Hwy 65, just north of Reeds Spring Junction, Mo. Which is approx. 40 Mi south of Springfield. And about 6 Mi by horse from Grampas farm.

But then again, when I started driving in 1966. Gas was 25 cents a gallon, for 101 octane.
