The only person I've seen referring to "measuring in tensions" is you (or others who are parodying you.)

So I would run it in a 300 Whisper neck sizing die, anneal it again and then a 6 mm TCU neck sizer, ream the neck to get rid of the thickness, anneal it again and then run it through a 223 neck sizing die and then inside neck ream it again.
      Gotcha.
      Thank you.
I was wondering how many steps it would take and how many trimmings and neck turns it would take.
Not that I have any plans to do it. No reason to reinvent the wheel.

The first thing that got my attention was this dial that did not look like it was going to last very long because of the violent vibration, but there was no time to ask questions. We made a trip to change the bit, when finished I asked the driller what the large clock looking thing was, he said it was a tension gage, he said it measured the amount of weight being supported by the rig, but do not get confused. The tension gage is installed on one cable, all of our cables are doubled by shives meaning if we want to know how much weight/pipe we are supporting off of the bottom of the hole we multiply the reading on the gage by 2 X the number of shives/cables we have.

In time I purchased an airplane, it was a PA12. Maintaining an airplane is expensive, if I could not work on it, I could not afford to fly it. The first tool was a tension gage for cables, it measured deflection in thousands and pounds. And then I got another airplane, it was a 172 Cessna.

If you have seen one tension gage, you have seen three. And then I got into reloading, no Internet, no problem. no predigests, no biases but Lyman the Sight company suggested bullet hold meaning the bullet was held by the case neck. How much bullet hold? How to increase and or decrease bullet hold? I decided I wanted all of the bullet-hold I could get. There was no shortage of platform scales, so I set one on the work bench, I set a bullet into the neck with a bullet seating tool, I then adjusted the height of the bullet and then used the heel of my hand to seat the bullet.

How much effort to seat the bullet? 35 pounds, it was simple to increase and or decrease the amount of effort, the effort would be increases or decreased with the diameter of the neck sizer plug.

I have three tension gages, all of them measure in pounds and or deflection, even the one that is considered a deflection gage has to indicate how many pounds are required to deflect the indicator.

Unnoticed by reloaders a bullet seating tool was invented that seats bullet in pounds, reloaders insist the neck of a case has tension and they insist neck tension be measured in tensions. Again, what is it to me this noisy ride? I do not have to wait for someone to invent a tension cell, they have weight cells.

          Thank you.

The next day, it rained, my brother was told to get some help to cover the mud, and off we went. I did not believe we had enough tarps but I was busy.

After the rain the driller walked out and was paralyzed/horrified, he could not speak, the old hands knew something was wrong so they ran out in a panic. He recovered his voice. He asked my brother about the tarps, he wanted to know what we did with them. My brother looked at me, I knew I had done nothing wrong so I asked what was the problem. No one knew it was raining when I covered the mud and they did not know they were circulating mud at the same time. I explained to them if they were looking for the tarts they should look at the edge of the mud pit. I told them they would find small ropes that were tied to the tarps, I told them the tarps started to sink as soon as the rain hit them and the circulating mud finished the job.

Cover the mud; they had sacks of mud/concrete in bags that weighed 80 to 90 pounds each, if they did not have a producing well they were supposed to seal the hole.

A few days later I stopped by the Marine recruiting office to volunteer.

Just say Uncle and your learning might begin.

And as previously posted the only person measuring in tensions is YOU. You can't copy and paste a single post where someone other than yourself calls the unit of measure tensions.

I'm concerned if it's going to have 18 neck tensions or 19 neck tensions. God save us all if it turns out to be 20.

In Mogolian units of measure 6-7 yak yaks has been shown to give the most accuracy.
On the shoulder bump if the brass has more than 11-12 yak yaks you anneal it first and bump until you get a firm closing on the bolt.
Then there was the time we all used basic brass and formed our own shoulders anywhere we wanted them. Of course there are only 2 reloaders in the world that can perform this and I am sworn to secrecy.
A clue is we used a hob.

Where have you been? Years ago I called Redding, I thought they were focused on starting over. Reloaders were all giddy about the new die names. Forums were lit up about bump dies, bushing dies etc. I explained to them I was not starting over with my dies unless someone at Redding could do a better job of selling me on the ideal.

I have over 250 sets of dies,, when it comes to sizing a case I have no failures that can be blamed on a die. Before Redding came up with their
competition shell holders I was increasing the ability of the die to increase the length of the die from the datum/shoulder to the case head by .025" or to infinity without grinding or shimming the shell holder of die.

The same for small base dies, all I had to do was figure a way to increase the die and presses ability to size the case. Not understood by reloaders; the case could have more resistance to sizing than the press could overcome.

RCBS made and sold BAR dies, The BAR stood for Browning AUTOMATIC RIFEL. For every BAR set of dies I had a standard set, so this was back before the Internet. years ago; who among all reloaders back then that could not measure the ability of a die to size a case?

Spread out for 1,000 of miles I found 30/06 RCBS dies that kept ever case that was shoved into the die. I found three of them, small base dies? I have heard reloaders complain about 'their tiny little chambers', "like my chamber is smaller than anyone's chamber. And I wondered if they special ordered a die for their tiny chambers and never received them because the dies were shipped to another reloader.

No one measures a die when they receive it, I knew these dies existed because I purchased a set of these XXXXXXXXtra small base dies. They were not listed as a 'small base die', they were stamped F.L. RCBS 30/06.

I know reloaders have trouble sizing a case, I understand they have trouble measuri8ng a case after it has been sized and now I know changing the name of the die does not make the reloader wiser.

And then there is casting the chamber, there are two reloaders that can cast a chamber and then the rest just go through the motions. And I am the one that was told it could not be done.

No one told you it can't be done.

You pretend all these things are some mystic secret that no one knows, while weve all been doing them for years.

That's why people poke fun at you. You couldn't wrap your head around how i got a custom spec chamber that fits my dies. Ar15barrels picked it up with almost no detail.
