Reloading 9mm — I never thought it would happen...

I have been reloading for about 12 years, but only now doing my first 9mm Lugar rounds. It was always affordable and plentiful, and I bought plenty at $8.99 a box back in the day. But now? Yeah, it's now cost-effective, and perhaps even necessary, to roll my own, even with my non-progressive setup.
Anybody else reloading for calibers they never did before?

It's always worth it to be set up to reload whatever you shoot. I have thus reloaded some 9mm rounds just to make sure that I could (yep, no problems). Times like these show why it's worth it to be ready to do so.

I have a turret for the Lee Pro 1000 set up with the 9mm dies. It's ready to go any time I need it.

I have rarely bought factory ammo since 1995. Some for CCW/HD but that's about it. Reload for all center fire calibers and have components for 10s of thousands of rounds of each caliber.

I’m currently reloading for eight different calibers. Before the buying panic started earlier this year, I was reloading for only five different calibers.

As a firearm enthusiast, it took me 40 years to get up to the five different calibers that I reload for. But only ten months to increase that by three calibers.

I've been loading 9mm for years. I bought it when it was $11/100 but some years ago the price doubled, and I started loading. My 9mm load is noticeably more accurate than what I was buying for about the same price.

I stocked up on the components and started loading 7.62x39 at the start of the pandemic. Mostly because I didn't want to deplete my stock of M67 ammo.

I have reloaded all my pistol/rifle ammo for the last 20some years but bought the shotgun shells because those were not worth reloading with how cheap you could get them at walmart.
Now walmart has stopped selling ammo in CA and I have taken up hunting.
I find I need more specialized shotshells than are commonly/easily available.
Now that I need more expensive shotshells, it's finally worth reloading shotshells.
The sky is indeed falling.

Ha, x39 was one of the first calibers I started reloading for. I knew my AR-39 was capable of better. groups than what I was getting with Wolf ammo, so I started in, settling on VMAX 123grn bullets and 1680 for best accuracy...

I didn't shoot much 9mm until recently. My sole gun in the caliber was a Smith 6906, but now I have a Glock 34, an Ruger PC9 and an AR-9 that I built... And I let my little stockpile dwindle from about 4K rounds to 1.5K, so time to start reloading, if only for plinker rounds so I can save the IMI stuff I'd socked away...
How the heck did I end up with so many 9mm guns?!? I'm a .45ACP guy!

You are probably missing out on 22LR and 17hmr.
