The component cost for 9mm now

I'm with Swagman00, I cast/swage a lot of different calibers using
9mm/40/22lr brass. I am well stocked on components so, loaded ammo is not a problem and inexpensive right now. The equipment to swage 9mm brass/22lr brass into bullets was expensive but has payed off over several years. As an example 22lr case made into a 224 bullet is maybe 1 cent each. Time to make them is another matter.

BBI has 125 grn 9mm TC in stock. $186.00 for 2625. They work great. Not as wel finished as Blue Bullets, but they’ll do...
Blue Bullets are backlogged to Feb-March...

Pre-pandemic, I had that beat:

Primer: $0.02 Bought in bulk, a few years ago
Bullet: $0.05 Winchester 115gr FMJ
Powder: $0.02
Brass: Free

$50/1000 for Winchester 115's? Where? That's a screaming deal for any Jacketed 115.. One of the sellers of pulled bullets I could believe.. Factory new? seems far fetched.. but I'm still curious..

Private party. He had 2,000, had to buy them all to get the deal. A few months ago I picked up a 1,000 count box of Hornady JHP's for $35.

So how long does it take to load 1000 rounds? That would include sorting brass, cleaning brass, loading primers, etc. everything involved. And what's your time worth? Just curious.

Balance the time spent reloading against trying to find ammo deals. To me it is time spent relaxing . I process all my ammo while watching tv or on computer.
I do not have to register my components when buying. I just bought 9mm/.38 for $60 per 500 jacketed bullets. Powder always around 25 bucks per pound primers never more than 50 for spp and lpp.

I don't like the current pricing on powder. My LGS sells powder for $39.99 a pound. Turners is $35.99 a pound. But, I cast and powder coat my own projectiles for 9mm. Powder coating adds a little to the cost.

Indeed... Reloading 9mm FTW.

I got 115gr FMJ 9mm lower than $0.131/rd on my last purchase ($6.547/BX/50).
I got 124gr PC 9mm down to $0.103/rd on my last purchase ($5.15/BX/50).
124gr FP plated I got down to $0.108/rd on my last purchase ($5.43/BX/50).
Hard to beat those numbers, if you can find any retail ammo right now to compare...

...I do not count tumble time, or press time into the calcs, as I am not searching in the Internet, or driving around for ammo...

I even reload .357 Mag. @ $0.233rd for 158gr Semi-Jacketed HPs, of the Full-House variety too...

In 15 minutes I can load about 100 rounds on my Lee Breech Lock Pro

Sorting brass is not an issue because they are my brass that I bought before I had brass. I pick up on my tarp only the ones that I shoot, so it goes right into the tumbler. I don't trim my brass either, hasn't been an issue.

Tumbling the brass is automatic on a timer. I am doing something else during this hour. Once completed, just strain out the media and throw it on a baking sheet. I use a spray lube, so just blast a light coat. I can put more than 100 on the sheet, just grab a few handfuls and dump.

The machine does the rest, it's always set up for 9mm and can be changed out to 223 in about 10 minutes. Dump the powder up top, lay out 100 primers on the table and start working. The lee carbide dies don't really need lube for 9mm so I don't even wait, the 5 minutes of pouring in powder and laying out primers is plenty. It's semi progressive so one hand is handling primer and bullets, the other hand is pulling the lever and dropping a cleaned/lubed brass.

My time is worth $15/hour. Add that to the 400pcs at 13.5/rd I can make an hour and that's $69 for about $9 a box. A lot of people won't work in their time and think they are making their boxes for $6.50.

I can do that on a Pro 1000, the Lee primer trays are easy to load.
