    Complete Reload Noob Help Wanted.

    Hello.
I purchased a hand press for reloading after seeing how simple it's use was on youtube one drunken stupor night.
I bought a package on ebay from a ebayer who seemed to acquire his in a similar fashion as me regards to getting the idea from youtube, so asking him what I just bought seemed unhelpful.
I paid 75$, and seems like a fair price.

It looks New, maybe used once, can't find any powder residue. He said this hopper thing was never used though.

Anyways, it is a Lee Hand Press.
The help I need is identifying certain small pieces, and what extra equipment do I need in order to start reloading 357 Mag/38 Spc.

Mind you I don't plan to reload much thus the reason for hand press, so I would like any information regarding the base necessities in order to reload the above calibers.

No box or manual came with it.

By the time you go thru the trouble of figuring everything out, you might as well have worked a little extra and bought the ammo. That system is totally manual and I would say not ment for a starting reloaders. Also you have to be very careful loading 357 as the type of powder and depth of projectile cal lead to high chamber pressures leading to kaboom.
However read the instruction manual and see if ts worth t for you.

Watch out for pinched hands. This press can do wonders for your cat like reflexes.

If your loading 357 magnum and the load calls for a compressed load powder, it may be difficult to use this press without spillage.

          Good luck with the press.

Watch a lot, read a lot, ask for help when you are not sure and please use published data starting on the lowest charges.

Thanks. Not sure what you mean pinched hands but if I do experience it, I will remember to blame you for it lol j/k.

I'm not planning/going to do any special loads. Once I find a load that is cheap and effective, I will most likely stick to it.

I just want this to be my "gateway drug" (if I am able to successfully reload my own ammo) to later upgrades in reloading equipment.
If I end up just being horrid at it, at least I didn't spend thousands to find out I suck at it.

You will need dies. The Lee Carbide 4 Die set will work fine, I think they come with the appropriate shell holder (if not, you will need that too).

You will need bullets and powder and primers (small pistol primers are hard to find right now).

I use one of those to de-prime while sitting on my couch. Not sure I’d try going through the whole reloading process with it, no offense meant.

Glad you decided to get into reloading, and wishing you the best of luck. I will just say that you will likely find the shortcoming of the handloader and either tire and retire, or move up, relatively quickly.

I started with a handloader kit way back, over 40 years ago, so I have some experience in this matter.

Yes, thank you. I was trying to see if it is 3 die set or 4 die set I needed. seems 4 die set it is.

I understand. If I do experience that reloading is another hobby I could spend good time on and with success, I would upgrade my reloading equipment.

As time is a good enemy of mine and without any space/room for my own stuff at home (kids and wife filled all storage space/closet at home), I felt this would be a great way for me to start.

Would I need a tumbler, media mixer, etc. if I am not planning to load much than to wet my beak with reloading?

i could never use one of those i use a press mounted to 3/4 plywood with elevator bolts that i clamp on a barstool

i would use a couple c clamps to mount that to a table

you need a little scale to set the perfect powder measure unless you are going to use lee's die scoops

trying to to the math with what i see and you paid about retail

I would of got other press if I had room anywhere at home for my stuff.

This perfect powder measure has setting for powder amount? But if I need scale or die scoops, I will get those too.

Could I get info on what this part is? I couldn't find it on lee website.

That's a case trimmer. Largely unneeded for pistol brass.
